Someone asked him about it at Mt St Anne and he said "I have two more years on my contract". Maybe it's only a letter of intent...So I keep hearing about how mingnar is going to retire next year, but I have actually seen anything substantive, is that an e-rumor or something else? Seems like he's still killing it pretty hard...
fun fact: Steve Smith is pretty quick, does not suck at pedaling, and has some momentum going into this race. He might do better then graves. i'd love to see a top 10 from peaty, but I doubt we'll see a top 5. Lets be honest here: this race will be won by one of the following people: gee, smith, mingnar, mick, or gwin.Minaar still has 2 years left on scruz contract I think.
My top 5
Minaar
Graves
Gee
Sick mick
Gwin
Peaty as a wild card.
I don't see anyone winning this race without clips.
Same year he won worlds; he also won Andorra and La Bresse in 2009.When was his last win besides for world champs? He may have beaten them all previously but it's been a while iirc. 4 + years?
YUP! Yes, it's got quite a bit of pedalling involced, and it isn't that steep. But...look at the size of the jumps, the speed at which you need to clear them, the rocks they do actually have, and you'll see that it is (in its own way) a pretty ballsy course. Nowhere near as ballsy as VDS, Ft. Bill, or MSA, but it's still cool. Just checkout this vid from PMB last year!A couple of these flat "lame" courses are cool. They push suspension, component, and tire designs in a different direction.
Its not really a DH bike its more of a freeride bikeHow can the Demo ever be a decent DH bike without a patented suspension configuration....
makes sense. just like he says - it's the bike he's been spending a lot of time on lately on courses more technical than the worlds track.Graves to race a "mountain bike" at Worlds this year. I'd put a dollar on a podium from Grubby riding a plastic trail bike.

Subtle! For sure, they all have to race the same track, fastest person wins on the day...just had that thought in my head. I wonder if, since it is not technical, if someone who is simply not very fast on real tracks, like a Kintner, could walk away as world champion? Or a dark horse like that in the mens as well?
same was said about canberra and it was two 10 inch bikes won, Peat on the V10 and Brook on the Ancillotti... certainly no trail bikesneed a dh track
I'm not convinced they were running stock v10's. I know they kept on saying they were running stock bikes but if I recall correctly they only ran those frames for that one race. Schladming was a couple of weeks later and none of them were running their world champs frames.same was said about canberra and it was two 10 inch bikes won, Peat on the V10 and Brook on the Ancillotti... certainly no trail bikes
just sayin
Thus Graves on his enduro race rig.people who eff around with switching to stuff they aren't used to usually don't fair as well as those who just go with the status quo.
i was just poking fun at all those armchain track experts at what constitutes a "real" dh tracksame was said about canberra and it was two 10 inch bikes won, Peat on the V10 and Brook on the Ancillotti... certainly no trail bikes

graves sure seems pretty used to his enderpo bike if you ask mea dh bike will win this, people who eff around with switching to stuff they aren't used to usually don't fair as well as those who just go with the status quo.
rigid 20" bikes are ridden off massive jumps more frequently than bikes with bigger wheels and 8" of travel. your argument is invalid.Thing is, there's quite a few massive jumps and big rock gardens that a short travel enduro bike will have a tougher time with. I guess we'll see come sunday.
Does anyone know the time it's on here? NY time I guess.
It's one of the fastest tracks.need a dh track
Yea ok there bud! hahahahahahah.rigid 20" bikes are ridden off massive jumps more frequently than bikes with bigger wheels and 8" of travel. your argument is invalid.
get a freecoaster wheel and ride the rock gardens fakieThat's it. I'm buying a 20" in anticipation of this race. It'll be the new thing. Ya'll watch!
Uh, what??By comparison, World Champs are easier. Pressure may be high, but the field is weaker than at a World Cup.
there are more pee cups, so the HGH has to be scaled backUh, what??
There will only be 7,8 fast Brits there instead of 35......Uh, what??
