I was thinking the exact same thing about Specialized's "suggestion". Either way kid is a shredder hope he does well on it!No disrespect to Mitch Ropelato as he's a really good rider, but I think even he would agree that he's a fairly "long shot" to win this thing. Not hatin' on the kid -- it just is what it is.
That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if somebody @ Specialized "strongly suggested" that he ride the 29er on this stage to show what the bike is "capable of". After all, it is this same bike -- the Enduro 29er -- that outsells the 26" version something like 6-to-1.
^ The way I understood what you said, how bout someone named Troy. He looks pretty damn good to me.so can we officially expect great things from ritchy rude jr now? when was the last time a jr world champ went on to be something other then really goddamn good. Seems like cunningham was the last one?
I actually lost my wallet in Pittsburgh last year (left it on the roof of my car at a gas station) and someone from a ghetto neighborhood actually found it and returned it to me. This time someone opened my backpack when it was unattended while I was working in an underground mine setting up a demo for the company CEO...so people never get their wallets stolen in Pittsburgh?!
either way, dude that sucks. sorry to hear it. I hope you get it back, or it works out for you either way...
Sadly this is true.He has a better chance of qualifying and winning the World Champs........assuming he can get there.
Then you understood what he said wrong.^ The way I understood what you said, how bout someone named Troy. He looks pretty damn good to me.
sorry, I meant when was the last time a JR world champ became mediocre? Troy, Loic, Cam Cole, Hill, etc all turned out pretty rad. Seems like 9/10 times, if you're good enough to win JR world champs, you're good enough to start podiuming in the Sr's later on.^ The way I understood what you said, how bout someone named Troy. He looks pretty damn good to me.
wUrd. He rides like a man apparently.Rude getting it done on a straight up coil shock DH bike. Proper.
I stand corrected.sorry, I meant when was the last time a JR world champ became mediocre? Troy, Loic, Cam Cole, Hill, etc all turned out pretty rad. Seems like 9/10 times, if you're good enough to win JR world champs, you're good enough to start podiuming in the Sr's later on.
the graves interview is telling Track looks DH bike worthy to me, wouldnt want to ride and jump that stuff on anything less...

Yeah... there was a bit of fear in his eyes...the graves interview is telling
quite the dichotomy between him & gee. pretty tough not to like steve; cool to see you don't have to be a robot to be at the top of the game. the diversity of personalities keeps it interesting though.Yes, great interview with Smith happy and having fun its what its all about.
Yeah I don't get what all these people are talking about. Steep steep gnarly ass rock features. Multiple 45 ft+ tables tops. Some huge **** at the bottom. I know I sure as hell wouldn't prefer some compromised "enduro" bike.Track looks DH bike worthy to me, wouldnt want to ride and jump that stuff on anything less...
So is he really retiring this year? Any idea of his future plans? enduro or just taking a break from bike racing? I always root for gwin, but I gotta admit, I think I'm pulling for Minnaar harder here, the dude surely deserves it and it'd be a great way to cap a phenomenal career cementing him as one of the best riders ever, if not the best. Not sure if this has been posted here yet, but its a good way to kill some time at work.
Greg does well under pressure, but this is really taking it to another level.

Some guy named Nico, who retired with 10 rainbow jerseys and the record for World Cup wins (at the time) all at the ripe old age of 26.Who else retires when they are as consistently on the top of the game?
Kelly Slater, Lance Armstrong, Nico Vouilloz. None could resist the pull back to competition, with differing results.Who else retires when they are as consistently on the top of the game?
Please don't do Slater and Vouilloz a disservice and use Armstrong in the same sentence as those guys, but I understand what you're saying. Jordan is certainly one which didn't go so well, but when the bar is set so high on departure it's very hard to match the same results.Kelly Slater, Lance Armstrong, Nico Vouilloz. This was his second and last year as a Jr. Although he did race with elite all season this yearwonder if we'll see the pro men come in under 3'50? Awesome result for Richie, good to see patience and hard work pay off. Does he race juniors again next year or is he into the seniors by then?
Same goes for Tahnée... sniped last year by Holly, but this year she made it happen.
