Who thought this logo was a good idea? How did this get approved? How?
Design-wise, it's good stuff, which means a decent designer did it. This begs the question... how did the designer think this was a good idea? Typically, designers are in-touch with the real world to know what's good and bad, who their audience is, and what their clients represent.

So, I'm more surprised that it was even designed in the first place.

However, we provide 4-6 logo ideas to the client and typically throw in some garbage just as filler. it's always a kick in the butt when a client chooses filler :D

Well obviously the company held payment on the designer or really pissed them off in some way. :p

Client: Are you SURE that's the logo we approved?

Designer: Yup! That's the one *cough*sucker*cough*

Client: What's that?

Designer: Nothing. Nothing. *snicker*
