You tried. Even with an AED the odds are very low unless it was there right when the rider went down and it wasn't a major Myocardial Infarction. seriously, you need an AED, drugs and immediate transport to have a good shot a saving some one
We worked on a guy for 45 minutes who had CPR started immediately and and AED in 5 minutes but the Paramedics had to come from 20 miles away he was gone before they arrived.
It sucks but it is reality. the best thing to take away is that you, as a group took action to try and save the life of a total stranger and that makes you folks very very special
That's too bad. Sorry to hear about the downer experience on what should have been another pleasant ride. Just isn't fair all the way around, but such is the fragility of life as it is, and we are reminded from time to time.
