To run Hope Bulb hubs and Avid Juicys? Or should i just stop being a fool and buy M4's? Also, 180mm sufficient in the rear for racing? Hope brakes would look awesome with my new 888 Works.

Edit: Way to long, drawn out, random stuff.

Dude of course its a sin, Mono M4's are a great brake with excellent modulation and stopping power, not to mention parts are easy to get direct from Hope, and they look great too:thumb: A 180mm rotor for the rear is plenty, but you can always get a 20mm adaptor and run a 200mm if you're concerned about stopping power. To be honest for racing DH a 200mm front and a 180mm rear is plenty.

BUY HOPE!!!!!!!!

It's ALOT easier to be a whore with EP and cost! How much of a pain in the ass? I can deal with shimming, but, are shim supplied with the brakes?

It just takes a little longer messing around with the shims thats all, and yes shims come with the brakes.

The shreking before they wear in.......The countless number of bleeds that you have to do.........

"you say you don't have enough stopping power? Just bleed it 7,000 times and you should be set."

True I have seen brakes come from the factory that need to be reblead, but thats a 10 min fix, and far as the sqealing goes, Hope sends out stock a sinthered pad which squeals a lot when its breaking in. Just swap it with their Organic pads and its all good.

put ebc reds on, their stopping power doubles and the squeeling goes.

Hope and ebc red were made for each other.

Chris, seriously. I spent all of 20 minutes installing my M4's front and rear, and that includes the time taken to yell at my little sister after she pulled the lever when the breaks were off the bike. The shiming 'issue' that so many hope bashers complain about is no problem at all if you have any sort of patience. It is simple trial and error, and once it is done, you can forget it. I have yet to bleed my brakes and they only squealed after a ride in the rain. Hopes were the best investment I made in my bike (aww, how cute  ) and I'm going to put my friends on today.

I didn't have to bleed mine either, just stuckem on played with the shims, and they only squel when they get wet with stock pads.

Hopes Must DIE!!!!

Just kidding, but really, I have 3 friends that have hopes on their bikes, one was ready to go after the first bleed. the other two weren't so lucky. it took some time to get it good. Just my experience.

Fair enough. I know some people have mixed experiences with them, but for some reason Hopes breed brand loyalty like no other... :D

Like I said a bad bleed from the factory is not uncommon, but its an easy fix.

I run my pads with a good covering of brake fluid, they never make any noise at least not when I'm using them. Sometimes the level hits the handle bar before they engage. And they don't like to work cold, they need to be "warmed up" before they kick in.

This is an easy mod to make, you just replace every seal with a leaky one. Works pretty good. :thumb:

So if my bleed sucks, it will be a lot easier with the Hope bleed kit.

Once you learn how to properly use it its fine. The beauty of the hopes is you can use their bleed kit, bleed it manually or use an automotive type bleeder.

I love my hopes....I hate my hayes. The rear hope squeals often but I am too poor for new pads so they will have to do for now.
Get a little water on the rotor the throw dirt on it and ride it around, it should quite it. And yes it won't F up your brakes.
