It just takes a little longer messing around with the shims thats all, and yes shims come with the brakes.Sherpa said:It's ALOT easier to be a whore with EP and cost! How much of a pain in the ass? I can deal with shimming, but, are shim supplied with the brakes?

True I have seen brakes come from the factory that need to be reblead, but thats a 10 min fix, and far as the sqealing goes, Hope sends out stock a sinthered pad which squeals a lot when its breaking in. Just swap it with their Organic pads and its all good.chicodude01 said:The shreking before they wear in.......The countless number of bleeds that you have to do.........
"you say you don't have enough stopping power? Just bleed it 7,000 times and you should be set."
Reds do work real well but wear way too quick, I find the standard green pads are fine.Lumpy_Gravy said:put ebc reds on, their stopping power doubles and the squeeling goes.
Hope and ebc red were made for each other.
Chris, seriously. I spent all of 20 minutes installing my M4's front and rear, and that includes the time taken to yell at my little sister after she pulled the lever when the breaks were off the bike. The shiming 'issue' that so many hope bashers complain about is no problem at all if you have any sort of patience. It is simple trial and error, and once it is done, you can forget it. I have yet to bleed my brakes and they only squealed after a ride in the rain. Hopes were the best investment I made in my bike (aww, how cute  ) and I'm going to put my friends on today.ViolentVolante said:im rolling stock pads on the m4s and m6s and they never squeal. the old brakes had their issues the new ones dont. chico quit talking out of your ass

Fair enough. I know some people have mixed experiences with them, but for some reason Hopes breed brand loyalty like no other... :heart:chicodude01 said:
Hopes Must DIE!!!!
Just kidding, but really, I have 3 friends that have hopes on their bikes, one was ready to go after the first bleed. the other two weren't so lucky. it took some time to get it good. Just my experience.
A wise choice my son You won't be disapointed.Sherpa said:I'll be a Hope whore about mid-next week. Even is they suck, there so pretty  .
Like I said a bad bleed from the factory is not uncommon, but its an easy fix.chicodude01 said:

Aren't you quite the comedian...Alloy said:I run my pads with a good covering of brake fluid, they never make any noise at least not when I'm using them. Sometimes the level hits the handle bar before they engage. And they don't like to work cold, they need to be "warmed up" before they kick in.
This is an easy mod to make, you just replace every seal with a leaky one. Works pretty good.
So if my bleed sucks, it will be a lot easier with the Hope bleed kit.Brian HCM#1 said:Like I said a bad bleed from the factory is not uncommon, but its an easy fix.
it will make everything far moe difficultSherpa said:So if my bleed sucks, it will be a lot easier with the Hope bleed kit.

Once you learn how to properly use it its fine. The beauty of the hopes is you can use their bleed kit, bleed it manually or use an automotive type bleeder.Sherpa said:So if my bleed sucks, it will be a lot easier with the Hope bleed kit.
I love the bleed kit, takes me like 30 min to do the whole thing, thats removing wheels, pads, setting up the bleeder, bleading and reassembly and cleaning uppartsbara said:it will make everything far moe difficult
Get a little water on the rotor the throw dirt on it and ride it around, it should quite it. And yes it won't F up your brakes.T-Pirate said:I love my hopes....I hate my hayes. The rear hope squeals often but I am too poor for new pads so they will have to do for now.
hmmm....all right, I'll give that a go. Weird solution.Brian HCM#1 said:Get a little water on the rotor the throw dirt on it and ride it around, it should quite it. And yes it won't F up your brakes.
It works.T-Pirate said:hmmm....all right, I'll give that a go. Weird solution.
Nope, you'll be a Hope whore when you put them on all your bikes an realize why you were playing games all this timeSherpa said:30 min ain't bad. Hope whore...t-minus 4 days. No for the real question, once i own Hopes am i "Hope whore" or do they have to be mounted on my bike and ridden (about 2-3 weeks)???
