Marcus Gronholm will tap into his Hulk-like rage and kill it (if his 307's gear box holds up...)

Actually Loab seems pretty assured victory

Is Nico still rallying?

I wish Duval would keep his tounge in his mouth when he's rallying, he is gonna bite that thing off one of these days!

here y take on the situation.
if citreon is still on michelin then i'd put loeb forward as a favourite to win, if i recall correctly, subaru and peugeot are on pirreli's which are not as great on tarmac, and ford has an all new driver line up so i doubt they will be on top form yet.

so my rough prediction
loeb
gronholm
solberg/duval

dont hold me to that though.
does anybody know if any of the teams are using the 05 cars straight off the block or are they all holding off until about mexico, as that could change things hugely.

Once again Sebastien Loeb dominated, winning his third stage victory out of a total of four timed events. The Citroën driver finished with a time 10"2 seconds faster than his teammate Francois Duval in second position.

Marcus Gronholm (3rd) and Petter Solberg (4th) tried hard to keep up with the Citroën drivers but finished with results respectively 25 and 26 seconds slower than Loeb.

Previously not entirely at ease with their cars, Markko Martin (Peugeot) and Roman Kresta (Ford) achieved much better results in SS 4, taking the fifth and sixth fastest times respectively.

Didier Auriol managed to beat many works team driver by finishing seventh in this stage, ahead of Gilles Panizzi (8th),Toni Gardemeister (9th), Harri Rovanpera (10th) and Stephane Sarrazin (11th), Armin Schwarz (12th) and Alexandre Bengue (13th).

YES!!!!!!

I knew Duval would be dangerous this year. The way he performed in Rally Germany in '04 was just a glimpse of what he's capable of.

i watched saturdays coverage a few hours ago, i love watching the monte rally, i just sit bak in sheer disbeleif at how they manage to get the cars to rail like that on the cold narrow twisty mountain roads.

at the end of every stage, they have the reporters there waiting to get interviews, every car the pulled up at the end of stage TC the disc rotors were still glowing red, just goes to show how damn hard they are pushing it.
shame for auriol, i was hoping he'd be up there whipping butt with the newer guys.
although i'm not a fan of citreon its good to see duval settling in well with the new car.
oh and tottaly unexpected that misubishi are doing so well, if this pace is anything to go by they will be a big contender this season.

edit* shame duval went out, but i heard he was taken to hosptal, anybody know if he's ok?

*edit again* sorry forget what i said, he's fine, just checked wrc.com, looks like he's ok.

cool to see Toni in the mix to.
wouldn't want loab/solberg to get all the media.

those roads would be so hard to drive with the ice in the shodows and on slicks.

anyone know if the rules still aply that the teeams have to chose there tires a week in advance and only can have a limited number?

i never like that rule. tire limits are for amature spec class!

yep unfortunatly the rule is still in place, still 7 days in advance and has to be submitted before 18:00CET on the given date.
except for a select few rallies such as monte where conitions are very unpredictable, i think the desicion has to be made before shakedown on such rallies. at least i think thats th way it is.

i find it sickening that both solberg and gronholm went off in the same place due to spectators throwing snow onto the road right on the heavy breaking points.

i mean i can see what the spectators were thinking, 'lets make it more exciting' and 'they are professional rally drivers they should be able to cope with it', but this is playing with peoples lifes, its like scumbags sabotaging MTB trails by putting logs across the trail.
obviously it wasnt done with intent to harm but you'd think they'ed have a bit more common sence.

just watched the hour long weekend review, the monte never fails to amaze me.
its just such a beautiful rally with so much history behind it.
great opener to the season.

stage 12 - col de tourini(sp?), breathtaking, there seems to be this amazing atmosphere on the stage, i'd love to go to the monte to spectate one year, shame about the snow incidents, but i suppose its nothing new.

i'm pleased with Kris meeke's performance, 1st place in JWRC, i still say he has the potential to go very far in WRC, he really has the natural ability that can take him to the top, he just needs to be given the oppertunity to prove his worth, Mcrae made a very good decision to back him.

so who loved last nights coverage on SPEED?

i like the brit FEM a lot better than ralf scheen sp?

i think her the race sound were too soft. i like to hear
the tires, fans and motors more.

the spot were the fans put snow on the track sounded
like they do that every year to see the cars slid. drivers
who have done the monte B/F know about it. it was
stupid mistakes they caught out drivers on it. no foul play
i don't think.

now on day one when loab spun that was unexpected
for fans to do that there but anyone doing monte carlo
rally has to be prepaired for that.

there was a camera shot on day two where the cars
go by the camera and into some leaves,
NOW THAT WAS A GREAT SHOT! :thumb: :thumb:

Toni is driving that ford great and it will make for another
hungry driver, like marco martin last year.

HANS device? crap or good?

see you next year monte.

HANS device? crap or good?
i think its a great idea, any saftey improvements are a step forward, but they need to workout the problem.
in an interview with phil mills he was saying its just not suitable the way it is, especially for co-drivers, its very restricting making it akward to constanly be looking up and down, and side to side movement was just not happening.
its definitly doing its job well though, he was saying it worked perfectly when they put the car into the embankment when there brakes failed on day one.

so i say its a good idea but needs working on.
