OK... It is pretty much undisputed that Aaron Chase is a bad ass.... But the sequence of him in the new Decline is off the hook.... Hand plant on a tree branch?!?!?

Sickness I tell you...

Yeah, pretty sick stuff. I was kinda shocked, Chase pulls some wicked stuff in the new Focused dvd too.

I tell you what, I did a headplant on a tree branch yesterday and it didn't look (or feel) nearly as cool:D

I believe the words I used to describe that to my GF was...

"hey babe, check this out...hands down the sickest $hit ever!!!"

Good lord, in one of the frames he is like at least 10' higher than where he lands and totally flat "prongin' the $hit out of that tree branch!

Aaron seems to be pretty happy with Manitou or maybe he has too ride 'em since C-Dale and Manitou have an affiliation...

That was on the Red Bull Freight Train, wasn't it? I saw a promo for the DVD, and the jump he made for that handplant was carved out of the ground without much prep at all. And in the same DVD, Rennie pulls some insanely huge gaps, both towed in and under his own steam. I can't wait to see it in full.

no way. i was riding with Aaron in boston today around 2:10PM. he couldn't be riding mt creek today.
but ya i agree. Aaron Chase invented a lot of stuff bmxers are pulling off now like peg grind and no-hander bar spin. he's the only guy who can do pull peg grinds who races at world cups and chase is stll just 20 yrs old! rocks! :thumb:

lets just say that hand plant by Chase
took a whole day digging by about 8 guys to get it looking how it looked
all by hand
Chase just walked up to this tree and said i want to hand plant that branch
that was about 10 am, work on the jump didnt stop until about 8pm

it took him a good 30 attempts before he was actually close to landing it

after he landed 4 times he just started playing on the branch doing
various combinations of stalls and sucides
he wanted to attempt a nose pick stall but it was getting late in the day and decided
that it would take him too long to get it sussed properly

just the imagination of what can be done on a bike by that guy is amazing
and hes a real down to earth cool guy

it was an amazing thing to see it develop from inital stage right down to the final product

You're joking, right?
have you ever seen chase ride 20 inch? you would be very surprised. i dont know wether he invented any tricks but i have seen footage of him doing 50/50's then hopping around into fakie 50/50's and never missin a beat.throwing peg stalls in chain link fences and all kinds of crazy shizzle.

I'm not saying aaron isn't a very talented rider, but he strictly does bmx tricks. There's not a lot of innovation. I've got much more respect for guys like ryan leech who are doing something different BMXers can't do.

BTW- You should all do yourselves a favor and check out the new Macneil video, if you don't crap your pants, you are obviously unable, and I will gladly crap in them for you.

While Aaron throws alot of BMX tricks, IMO he has blended it with trials and lord knows where else he finds influence to come up with a style that is pretty unique...

As for sick BMX stuff, how about Ruben on the cover of the new Transworld? Or any other pic of Ruben for that matter.... There is a guy with such a different way of looking at riding... Unreal...

Oh yeah, and for Micro Sanjay.... If Aaron is 20, then the Dirt Bros were doing peg grinds and pedal grinds when Aaron was in kindergarten.... Go find a copy of Eddie Roman's Ride On and brush up on your BMX history....

Uh... you should know by now that you shouldn't take ANYTHING that micro says seriously.

He isn't even a real person... just an alter-ego.

a play off of "Mini-chase" who, I guess got banned a while back.

I heard that sponsored BMX riders were better on P.3's because they are more expensive than P.2's, what gives?

I bet if Chase had a P.3 he'd be the bestest rider in the whole world. Since he rides a Cannondale and we all know they suck! I mean Bearclaw rides a P.3 you know! OMGSTFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are correct that BMX inspired most of Chases style of tricks but he has come up with his own share of unique moves and is an MTB innovator. But really to argue about it or attempt to simplify it to the level of your above comment is pointless...Oh yeah and I don't care who you are, nobody can make Chase look silly! (Except maybe those dudes from queer eye...)

Here will be my own little addition to this,
First, the New Macneil flick is beyond sick. It should do more than simply make you soil your pants.. I actually experienced a brain hemmorage during Rueben's seg.

Second, if any of you don't believe that a capable bmxer can and will redefine what is possible on a mtb, you most certainly were NOT at Crankworx for the slopestyle final.
Paul Basagoitia who has only been riding a 26incher for five days put on a clinic in both the qualifier and the final to claim the $3000.00 purse. Sadly however he is a far cry from what the top bmxers are capable of. Now don't get all your panties in a bunch because I seem to be slaggin MTB, I am not, I am just aware that in THAT particular form of bicycle expression (the slopestyle/sk8park/DJ arena) MTBers will generally play second fiddle.
I am however a huge proponent of this form of MTB expression, as it is in it's fledgling years and will most certainly eventually produce a set of riders who truly innovate and create.
How this relates to Aaron's radness...... it doesn't. He is an amazing athelete who has vision, he may be doing stuff that has already been done, but he still has enough vision to see what stuff is worth doing.
