In hell. Welcome!
It isn't. The horseshoe is real, particularly in the case of support to Ukraine and that is hardly an issue only in Germany. The far left and right wing as well as libertarian types can find common ground here and they love to conflate it with whatever position they take in the culture war.
True, same in Czechia as far I can see - the far left and far right and the opaque populists are all (I assume) deep in the pockets of the KGB (regardless how it's called nowadays). My understanding of the Czech political landscape is extremely lacking though.

Ya, if I remember, you all hosted a party in the Oval office for the Russians, but for some reason did not invite the Americans. :bonk:
Also a similar relationship with the far left. Someone I know from college considers himself a socialist, with no historical knowledge assumes Socialism=communism=Soviet Union=Russia. Since socialism is good Russia must be good and Ukraine bad.

He isn't a socialist, he is an idiot.

Sounds like college failed yer acquaintance.
Even a passing reading from a centrist source would disavow him of that notion.
What a maroon.

Anonymous unverifiable source leaking top secret information about a US operation to hurt an ally as part of a conspiracy with virtually zero chance of a positive outcome? Definitely doesn't sound like something the FSB could be behind, not at all.

Hersch did some good reporting back in the day, but has slowly slipped into true crackpot territory, but his reputation is still rather good and as a famous reporter with a penchant for exposing the US government he'd be the perfect guy to drop a fake scoop to.

I quit reading after "reinforce false narratives about Russia’s culpability for the war in Ukraine".

Weird wording for the point the author was making, worth a read though after reading Hersch's article, or actually, just read neither.

The implication is that somehow Hersch's article helps minimize Russia's culpability or lack thereof and that Putin is right, it is just a US led Nato war against him.

It's also just sloppy as hell. Guarantee you that it's already being circulated in ruskie propaganda circles as proof that this is a US led attack on motherfucker russia

It makes no sense as the US has been very careful to not offend or step on the toes of Germany, and I don't see what it would have given us. The pipeline could have been used as means to return to normalcy if Russia withdrew and high energy prices hurts the US as much as anyone, especially Democrats in the following election. But hell if we did, tip of the cap to Dark Brandon.

Interesting factoid on the first anniversary of the 3 day special military operation, Russia has lost more than the entire German Military, men, tanks, APCs and aircraft. Not that Germany has a particularly large military, but damn, that’s a lot of dead guys to have to lie about in order to weasel your way out of paying their widows.

Also, am I out of my mind thinking that based on his recent antics, Prigozhin is planning a coup or at least placing himself to take over after Putin?

He certainly is vying for power. There seems to be a lot pissing between Wagner and the Russian MOD and it seems like the MOD has decided to ensure he is subservient.

The scary thing about Russia is that if Putin somehow loses power all the alternatives are actually worse than him.

A journalist managed to get a T72 destroyed in the Battle for Kyiv shipped to Berlin, and after fighting his way through the courts is having it placed in front of the Russian embassy as an art installation.
