Looking to upgrade the Avid BB7's on my Stumpy. I would like to stay under $150 per wheel. Its been a long time so I'm out of the loop. Any suggestions? Price Point has the following brakes.

Magura Julie - $90
Avid Juicy 7 2009's - 160mm $100, 185mm $120
Avid Elixir R 2009 - $120
Hayes Stroker Carbon V6 - $110
Hayes Stroker Trail 2010 - $120
Magura Louise Alloy 2010 - $120
Forumla RX - $140
Hayes Stroker Ace - $140

Thats a good deal. I always had Hayes HFX (old school) on my older bikes and never had a problem with them.

Any other thoughts out there?

The newer Hayes brakes are OK - while lighter than the old HFX - they don't feel near as solid. My wife has HFX on her bike, mine had Stroker Carbons.

The Strokers are OK, and generally trouble free, but not super powerful (and the levers on the carbons are flexy for sure).

I recently upgraded to Elixir R's and have been much happier.
