XCX Guide Question?

I have converted my Sinister R9 to singlespeed using a yess chain tensioner. I am currently using an older LG-1 chain guide which has worked flawlessly for 3 years. I realize it is not recommended for dh but I'm wondering if I could get away with just using the XCX guide on a singlespeed downhill bike. In addition to the loss of weight, changing chainrings and maintenance would be much easier.

Hey D,
Although the XCX does fit up, it is strictly designed for use without a bashguard. For DH use (and especially a super sagged bike like the R9) a full chainguide is recommended.

Of course, if you're going to single speed it and want simplicity, check out the FreeChucker.

Thanks for the info. I have really been happy with the LG-1 but I may give the free chucker a try.
