Strangely enough, window cleaner seems to work very well. I suppose straight ammonia would be as effective.BurlyShirley said:hahaha,
Our cat got stung the hell out of yesterday and had to go to the vet for a steroid shot and an allergy shot. There is an underground yellowjacket nest just at the base of the steps of our back door that we did not notice until yesterday when the cat got it good.
So this morning, I decided to take care of the problem. I know gas or diesel is the best, but I had none around, so I got a water bottle and filled it full of bleach and shot that down the hole.
This did nothing but piss the bees off, and they were after me.
After it settled down a bit, hahah, I just used DRANO Those little bastards are tough.
I guess Im just going to keep trying different kitchen cleaning agents until the die.
We were talking about stinging insects.MudGrrl said:I got nailed by one of those bstrds a few weeks ago.
I still have a mark.
Im actually very interested in keeping some bees once we buy property.johnbryanpeters said:I used to keep bees, so I have gotten rather blase about stings. I don't in general pester stinging critters and they don't pester me.
However - late in the summer, when the yellowjacket nests get strong, sometimes I have to get rid of them so as to be able to work in the yard without getting stung.

I was watching "Mythbusters" and they tried vodka. Didn't work for them.golgiaparatus said:Go buy a cheap $5 bottle of vodka (the kind in a plastic bottle) and get a brick... Stand over the hole... hit the bottle like a man... dump the rest down the hole... cover hole with brick... run like a scared little girl.
A few may escape to chase you but by the time the rest start to dig out they will all die from the fumes.
What was his removal charge though?Dartman said:I just had a professional remove a european hornet nest out of the wall in my house. When I mentioned my cure for yellowjackets he informed me that it is a $500.00 fine from the EPA to use gasoline.

If you guys live in an apartment that has some kind of bug service, give them a call. We had ants so bad and I tried everything to get rid of them but it wasn't until we had some exterminators comes out and get the whole house really good that they finally disappeared. I hate fricking ants.antimony said:Fantastic spray has ammonia in it, so I figured I'd try it on some ants (we have been infested lately)... Bang! Amazing, I tell ya! Instant death... I highly recommend.
