me thinks leverage and rate could be controlled a little more elegantly with pivots....not that cabinet technology doesn't have its place

Very cool, it's always interesting to hear about bike design from those who actually design the bikes. I am always stoked on pretty much everything you guys put up on litter, so thanks a ton for always having awesome content!

has to be one of the ugliest bikes I've seen....whats the point in the rail system if they still have to use a bunch of swing links to stiffen things up?

Completely rearward axle path.

Maybe its ignorance, but isn't the Canfield F1 a rearward axle path?
Alot of bikes are rearward axle path, and alot more are rearward for their effective part of travel. the bikes axle path should not be the holy grail, moreso the by product - to an obvious extent. however it usually is one of the chief marketing points

Pitty it is impossible to achieve a rearward axle path with just one high single pivot.

// End sarcasm//

So the 303 7 is a rearward path high single pivot with a link thrown in at the pivot to make it less rearward, and a rail thrown in to keep it together.

lotsa commentary on the wheelpath. just to play devil's advocate, i will agree with the statements that other linkages will do the same job, however, nobody seems to be giving credit to the possibility that the other suspension charachteristics may be at play here (linear/progressive/regressive) that may not be possible with a single pivot or another linkage design. there is also the possibility for improved stiffness and less lateral stress on the shock... not that i've ever seen a shock die of lateral stress, but it is a factor.

all said and done, i'm happy w/ my single pivot and have been with all the ones i've ever owned...

when i saw the bikes at sea otter, I wasn't a huge fan but after seeing all those detail shots and videos of the suspension I'm starting to come around. thank you littermag for continuing to produce only the highest quality bike porn.

Completely rearward axle path.
Uhm, isnt it just a single pivot with its main pivot point placed above the bb? if it is then the axle path is just a circle around that point like a lot of other single pivots. and certainly not only rearward. (I am talking about the dh version)
So the only thing that is changing is the way the shock is driven troughout the stroke.

Will they still be offering the original 303 with the 2 sliders?

the crazy 303 7 is actually growing on me. The three "pivot" system really allows you to play with axle path. They essentially have a single pivot on a vertical slider, I think. You could really play with it to change it up. They could have a fully vertical axle path, or rearward, or forward, depending on setup/geometry. I think it's ridiculously complicated, especially for a bike that's supposed to be simpler than the original 303.

I STILL wish they polish up the Lawwill design. I loved the way those bikes rode. I guess it's just yeti being yeti, they always tend to do things differently as possible (pull shocks, floaters, through axles, etc.)
