Local Biker arrested for accident that caused attack on SUV driver, cops hunt for 2 suspects in upper Manhattan beatdown - as mother of rider struck in ordeal says her son is paralyzed
Christopher Cruz, 28, allegedly caused an accident with Alexian Lien when he cut off the SUV driver on the Henry Hudson Parkway on Sunday. Lien, 33 - who was driving his wife, Rosalyn Ng, and their 2-year-old daughter - stopped, but fled when a group of bikers began to damage his Range Rover at the scene. Lien plowed into at least three motorcycles and struck Edwin Mieses, 32, during his escape. Mieses mother, Yolanda Santiago, said her son was left paralyzed.

Sources said Christopher Cruz, 28 (pictured) cut Alexian Lien off on the Henry Hudson Parkway and caused the accident that triggered a wild 4-mile chase through upper Manhattan.
Cops arrested one biker they say sparked a hell-on-wheels ordeal that ended with a mob of angry motorcyclists pulling a man from his SUV before beating and slashing him in front of his wife and 2-year-old child in upper Manhattan.

Christopher Cruz, 28, was riding with a swarm of motorcycles when he swerved in front of Alexian Lien's Range Rover on the Henry Hudson Parkway and stopped short, causing the 33-year-old driver to bump the biker's back tire, police sources said.

Cops are trying to identify two suspects (pictured) who are also wanted in the beating and slashing a Manhattan man in front of his family. Cruz - who was waiting Tuesday to be arraigned on a slew of charges that include menacing, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child - allegedly caused the accident that triggered a terrifying 4-mile chase, which ended with the beatdown in Washington Heights on Sunday.

Numerous people claiming to be part of the ride posted on social media that there was an earlier confrontation with Lien on the road and that the bikers were trying to slow him down so as to pass.

Police said after the fender bender near W. 116th St., Lien pulled over - but several of the bitter bikers started to bash his black Range Rover with their helmets and slash the tires.

Lien ran over one biker — Edwin Mieses, 32 — as he tried to escape the pack of bikers on Henry Hudson Parkway. Lien hit the gas to escape, plowing into at least three motorcycles and striking one of the bikers, Edwin Mieses, 32 — breaking both the man’s legs and possibly paralyzing him from the waist down, his family said.

"He's trying to hang on for dear life," his mother, Yolando Santiago, told the Daily News from her Lawrence, Mass., home on Tuesday. "They're making the riders out to be bad people. They're not. If the driver of the Range Rover would have stopped, none of this would have happened."

Mieses was in a medically induced coma at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital, family said. But police maintain that Lien did stop, but fled because he feared for his and his family's safety when the bikers began attacking his vehicle.

Mieses was in a medically-induced coma at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital, family said. A group of motorcyclists, which included Cruz, stayed behind to tend to the bleeding Mieses as several bikers raced after Lien, director of the e-commerce firm Skrill.com.

Shocking footage of the chase was posted to YouTube by one of the bikers and quickly went viral.

Mieses was recovering from broken legs, bruised lungs and spine fractures. Family said doctors fear he may never walk again. NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said about 30 motorcyclists, most of whom riding sport and dirt bikes, caught up to Lien on W. 178th St., where he had to stop because of his slashed tires.

One of the riders unclipped his helmet, which he used to smash open the driver’s side window of Lien’s car. Another biker punched at the window to the backseat, where Lien’s daughter was sitting.

Lien’s wife, Rosalyn Ng, was sitting in the front passenger seat.

Lien's wife, Rosalyn Ng, was sitting in the front seat of the Range Rover during the attack. “He’s taken out of the car. He is assaulted,” Kelly said.

Lien was punched and slashed to the face with a knife in front of horrified bystanders. Cops arrived a few minutes later, but the bikers fled.

The bikers left the pummeled man bleeding on the ground before police arrived. The bleeding Lien was taken to Columbia University Medical Center, where he received stitches for his wounds and was later released.

About 30 bikers caught up with Lien in Washington Heights. One biker so far has been charged with menacing, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and endangering the welfare of a child. Police were still hunting for the two bikers that attacked Lien, a Columbia University grad.

Meises was taken to St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, where he was being treated for two broken legs, spinal fractures and bruised lungs. His mother said Mieses - an aspiring rapper who has two children, a 15-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl - is in a medically-induced coma and doctors fear he will never walk again.

Police said Lien initially stopped after the accident, but several angry bikers began to bash his car with their helmets and slash his tires before he fled. "It's just devastating," said the weeping Santiago. "They said he's never going to walk again, all because someone did this."

Mieses - who has been riding motorcycles for about two years - went to New York to join the group as part of a loosely organized annual ride from Brooklyn to Times Square.

Kelly said police were monitoring the group — put together by Hollywood Stuntz, who caused chaos at the Crossroads of the World last year — and arrested 15 bikers, confiscated 55 motorcycles and issued 68 summonses.

Police said Lien was not expected to be charged, but they are still investigating the incident.

Santiago, 48, said she was furious at the driver.

"He just ran into my son," she said. "Where's the justice for my son? He's never going to walk again."

Lien could not be reached for comment and his wife did not return messages left on her phone.

Cops urge anyone with information to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at (800) 577-TIPS.

Between seeing that multiple videos posted and this article with police info, it looks like the guy hit was the victim of his brethren's pack mentality in assaulting the driver. Also, if he wasn't involved, why was he stopped in front of the car?

Hey it seems my friends are trying to disable the vehicle we have been taunting down the public motorway.
Maybe I should stop in front of him while my friends try to kill his family? When exactly is stopping on the Henry Hudson ever a good idea??
