The hotel you're staying at advertises that it has "LAN Lines" available - and when you arrive they thought LAN Lines really meant dial up internet, and that they are truly special from any other hotel in the area (they even put "Business" room signs on the doors that have "dial-up" capability)!

What's funnier, is that I'm staying at the nicest hotel in town...

I sure hope that this isn't a regional attitue about the internet...otherwise my training tomorrow for a district that pays for our services, accessible ONLY online, isn't going to go so well....

Sigh - and I'm only 60 some miles away from Asheville, where I hear that bikes and mountains and stuff....

Be grateful you're not staying in Plymouth, NC. The sphincter of the state.

The best thing I can say about it is they have a really nice papermill there.

Hahahahha!!! I think every state has a few of those ;). I think this is mostly a suprise because of the comparison between where I'm at tonight, and Winston-Salem, where I was yesterday.

Dude, my dad used to work in Plymouth.

Can't believe anyone else has even heard of that place.

Paper mill -- mmm, stinky.

I was in Roxboro for 3 days last week.
Didn't take long to remember why I left NC after school.
No hotel rooms, no cell signal. 3 days sitting by a damn coal power station.
