i just thought it would be cool to see how other people setup their shocks and forks. include any comments about your setup things youd like to change how it feels on certain terrain ect. make sure to inclue weight and what bike.

weight:147w/o gear,
rear shock:fox dhx air (orange 223)
main spring:200
boost valve:120
propedal: full for race unless its super choppy might take off 5-10click
bottom out:just above seccond line
rebound:9-11 clicks from full slow (haven't quite got it perfect)
comments:firm ride. even at full propedal which there is no bob at all the bike tracks well through ruts and such. can just barly bottom out when jumping up and down.

front fork:sherman slider+ tpc+ damp 7"
spring:stock
rebound:1-3 clicks from full fast
compression: quater turn from min(-)
comments: never bottoms out

you dont have to go so indepth but im bored so....

05 M3 laaage
05 DHX 450Ti spring. Rebound 5 clicks from slow, stock pressure in boost valve (75), two turns on the propedal from full in, bottom out 3 turns from in.
06 Manitou TRAVIS TPC+. 3 clicks from full slow. stock ti springs, compression all the way out usually.
This set up eats everything up and pedals better than my 5" bike.

I'm bored too.

Shiver DC with 6 turns of preload, rebound set 6 turns out from fully closed. Rear shock 5th element (intense M1), 175 PSI in the shock, and all settings that Intense suggested for a 200+ lbs rider :)

I have this setup:

Karpiel Disco frame

02 Boxxer WC
1 medium, 1 light spring
15wt oil in rebound side, damping cranked up to full
5wt oil on compression, no adjustability

05 Avalanche DHS 8.5X2.5
550lb spring
everything else at default

I'm about 150 in riding gear.

Front: Mr Dirt Quad fork custom frankensteined to have ext. compression and rebound. Both are my own experiment'd shim stack. The dials only have 4 clicks so they're set pretty spot on w/o any dial adjustments (still need to tweak the compression a bit). 7.6" of true travel. Designed for 8, but will never get there. It's kinda on the soft side. 2.5wt Silkolene, damn near a full liter in the fork. Oh, I think this fork is like 6 or 7 years old :D
Back: 2.75 x 8.75 5th 5 way. 75 - 125#s of air in the resi, 350# Ti spring (very soft). All high speed/low speed almost completely out. No compresson, slightly slow on the rebound (not enough to pack up).

The way my bike (Tomac 204) is set up, it's hard to bunny the thing; suspension sucks up all the loading energy and returns nothing. And those of you who know this bike, the weight doesn't help either :D

I'm about 185#s geared up.

I run Avalanche front and rear, and I don't need to play with my setup too much as they are mated nicely. I may move a couple of clicks depending on the course...I'm about 190 with gear.
Front is 8" single Ti damper, med springset. Compression is 8 clicks from full firm, rebound is 5 clicks from slowest.
Rear is 9.5x3, I *think* a 400 Ti spring. Compression is 5 clicks out, and rebound is 4 clicks out.

Riding around on flat feels sort of funky, but at speed she's better than sex.

LOL.......so true...

As for suspension......i run everything wide open and only enough preload in the rear shock so the spring doesnt rattle around.......

Hm, my current ride is damped with Reynolds 853 and 725 (compression set at full-stiff, naturally)...fork is a mere TALAS RLC at 62 psi and 2 clicks compression and rebound where it feels good...I forget the knob settings.

03 bb7 large avy front (dual damper) and rear

Front I have the med spring setup in it, stock oil height and stock oil. Rebound is in 2 clicks, compression is all the way out

Rear I have a 550lb ti spring, I'm gonna get a 450 over the winter, it's a *tad* bit stiff (0mg_t3h_hux!), rebound in 3-4(?), compression all the way out.

Sucks up everything, downhilling is smooth, drops ramp up nicely.

I'm 185 w/o gear.

Hehe. Craig fiddles with the knobs, so you don't have to! :thumb:

People talking to me about a million and one clicks of something or other on thei dhx/5th/6way annoys the hell out of me. My shock just works..

I like mine reasonably fast and really soft. I run a Shiver front, 5th rear on an MC 9.5. Very little preload on either end. Oil height a few mm above recommended mid-level, just above minimum pressure in the shock, almost all the way open on compression, compensating for that by cranking the bottoming up a bit.

One soft & medium spring
compression all the way backed off
rebound somewhere comfortable
comments. I need to lower my oil level more, I still don't touch the last inch of travel

5th:
145psi
chamber screwed in1/2 turn
slow speed comp 2 clicks in
high speed comp 3 clicks in
rebound all the way fast (still not very fast)
comments. pretty good setup a little lacking in small bump performance, but thats inherent in the shock. I bottom it out maybe once a ride.

Yup soft and slow is the way to go. People think that they need to run load of rebound so their suspension doesn't "fall behind" but in truth the more rebound your running the more your wheel is going to get hung up. I like a slow feel in the back because it feels more skippy and fast to me. It may not be the most comfortable way to ride but it's def the way to go faster.

Khs Fr1500...... Marz Z150 in front Tuned for My fat A$$ at 275 riding weight with gear......Medium and firm combo on the springs.....took the Vanilla r off in the back due to issues with Khs using wrong spring on the shock itself.......now have a Vanilla rc with a 750 spring . Fork is 2 full turns from closed on teh rebound......shock is four clicks out on rebound and about the same for the compression which i play wioth depending on the ride.... close it up for climbs open for longer decents...

front:
Marzocchi DJ2 '03 (5")- stock
adjustment - air assist - I stiffen it up for skateparks. A lot of peole say it is kind of stiff, but I like it on the stiff side. Probably an inch of sag.

rear: Maxxis 2.35 2ply highroller (.9")

Rear spring is a 450, no spring preload/160lbs air pressure/ 4 clicks from full slow on rebound, and 5 clicks from wide open on compression.....has never bottomed once and is plush as all hell
Monster T has heavy springs, and a mix of mostly 15wt specktro oil with some 5 wt mixed in(about 1/3).....very little preload on springs...
Bike is very soft at first but gets very progressive front and back, can blast through anything and the weight isnt so much of a problem because the bike is so stable and accurate.....best bike I have ever ridden....

04 SGS with Swinger 6-way. 60psi, bottoming resistance all the way in, 350lb spring (I'm 220lbs), fairly slow rebound, no high- or low-speed compression (usually).

04 Boxxer: 5wt oil in compression side, HSC wound all the way in (not really recommended, I just did it to see what it would do), LSC about halfway in, 5wt oil in rebound side with rebound reasonably fast but not super quick.

110lbs rider w/o gear.
sc bullit, shox: dhx 5.0 mounting hardware so that its progressive.
250# spring in two turns (30% sag). 90 psi in the chamber, bottoming out 2.5 lines, propedal out all the way, rebound 8 in from fully open.
feels plush but cant really run it with anymore preload or otherwise it will be too harsh on the small high speed bumps.

fork: fox 40 rc2, soft spring, purple (10% sag) preload out all the way. high speed compression 4 clicks out from full closed, slow speed around 7 clicks from fully open. rebound 8 clicks from fully open.
i would like to run the rebound faster but the fork tops out loudly if i run less. still playing around with the settings for the fork.

tire pressure on 2.5 in tires front and back, 20 and 25 psi respectively.
