Just 18 months ago, YouTube was funded only by Chen's credit card. Chen and his colleagues beat mighty Google to the idea of video over the Internet.

Now Google is using $1.6 billion of its stock to buy what was, until last week, a company with 67 employees working in a loft above a pizza shop in San Mateo, Calif.

Funny part is they were making no real income. It is all based on potential monetizing. Since youtube started, about 20 more of those style sites have crept up.

Many of those additional sites beat youtube to the pay model though. They pay users who post content based on views. The problem google will face now, is that much of the content on youtube is copyrighted. It will be interesting to see how google plans on getting around this.

Google has a way to counter act this mass exodus ...paying the end user. This will keep them profitable and keep the content flowing.
