Whatever man. I'm not defending him. His bikes are one of the best ever made,he's doing it tuff for whatever reasons,I just think, don't talk s*** if you don't know what you're talking about or have nothing to do with it. It's not my place to fuel gossip on the net.
I can totally understand the possition of those waiting,it's f***ed,but that's obvious and been stated.
You sound like the guy on the "leave Britney alone" youtube videos.

Pull your head out of wherever it's stuck.

why not have him make a ridemonkey account
because the man already has one, and i know this personally because i have had many arguments with him about carbon, and he is the one that has me convinced that carbon belongs in the dh arena. now i know this whole situation sucks and we all know that bcd can pump out carbon frames, but who knows maybee the man has hit some hard times and has been unable to make the bikes. there are to many unknowns for us to be making assumptions in my opinion. know i know that waiting 9-12months on a frame is ridiculous, but if no skids has personal info about the man that he doenst want shared with the entire web, then i think he has every right to keep it to himself and the mans customers. sorry just my opinion.

Then he should have kept it to himself, rather than dragging this sorry thread back to the surface with "I have a secret" type sh1t.

I think Aaron's name has been slandered quite enough and if anybody had any news that could redeem his reputation, then perhaps it would be a good idea to bring it forward?

I responded an hour after one of the three waiting customers,They've all now PMed me from seeing my post and I have replied with what I know. Lahar is doing what he can to complete the current outstanding orders.
Say what you like,it's not my place to defend Lahar, the slagging's just getting a bit old. Look at all the opinions because of my simple statement, and enevitably the ones that will follow this.

Classy PM, skidmarks.

I take personal offense to this situation because I was very close to purchasing a lahar frame two seasons ago, but opted instead to buy the Racelink I have now. Had I chose to buy the Lahar, I would have been out the $4200 and a season and a half of riding.

It's all well and good to play down somebody else's experiences, but when it happens to you, it's not fun. It's easy for you because you're relatively local. We're on the other side of the world, so getting in touch with Aaron, even if he weren't unreachable, would be nearly impossible. Now he's avoiding phone calls, not answering emails, and the only way to get in touch with him is second or third party. Legal action is even next to impossible for people on the other side of the world.

I don't mean to be personally attacking Aaron, maybe he's a nice guy with a nice dog and a nice house next to a nice tree, but he really, really sucks at selling bikes, regardless of how thick his carbon is or how efficient the drivetrain might be.

Sorry if I "dissed your boy" but wake up...if there are three people out there waiting for bikes (there may be more than that), that's 12,000USD he's sitting on and not doing anything with. That's a down payment on a house, a new boat, a decent used car, a trip around the world. That's other peoples' money, and he shouldn't get to do whatever he wants with it while they get the shaft.

Don't shoot the messenger, at the end of the day no skids is the only guy that seems to try to solve this mess around here. one thing would be nice if someone can get Aaron to come public and give a schedule of how he plans on solving this mess

So is taking customer's money and not giving them a product. I don't care what the excuse is.

Also, you won't be seeing no skid marks around for 14 days. He is taking a 2 week holiday for being an insolent prick and sending nasty PMs to people.

Bah! You're just another part of the anti-carbon-pro-derailleur-mass-consumerism-brainwashing-trendfollowing conspiracy! ;)

That's me. I fear change. And I like being ripped off even less. If I was one of the affected riders, I would have filed suit a long time ago to get my money back.
Dude - the chance of that working (getting your money back) would be zero. Forget it. You'd be paying your lawyers bills as well.

Ha, you are probably right. Small claims court is only $35 here though! ;) You can also do fun things to make his life miserable like filing criminal fraud charges, no lawyer needed.

Heh. eBully or Mr Vendetta? Similar things here, but realistically nothing will get the $ back, and none of that will make the bike appear sooner.

I'm one of those in the 'be patient, it'll be worth it' camp. I've spoken with Aaron a few times and he's bonkers, but has every intention of delivering (and is going far further than any corporate ever would to deliver - granted a 'proper company' would never have got itself into this position).

Caveat emptor and all that. If you go for a boutique frame, from a one-man-band on the other side of the planet you've got to know it's a gamble. Anyone that says 'he had a web site and was promoting it' is nuts. The website was a prime indicator that Aaron is a mad inventor, not a businessman.

Still - I really feel the pain of those who've forked out with nothing to show yet. I was sweating after 3 days waiting for a frame I'd bought on line. If the '1 year wait' claim is true that's pretty damn rough.

If I had the cash, right now, I'd still lay it down for a Lahar and suffer the wait. They ARE the F1 of DH bikes, just built by the Colin Chapman (look it up) of MTB.

I swear to füçkin' christ. If I were in this position I'd be taking a nice long vacation and kicking someone's door in. It's one thing to take someone's hard earned money and give frequent updates to delivery/progress and quite another to 'disappear' and need to fall back on bike forums to hopefully find updates to the issue.

I feel for you dude. Start working out your nut kicking leg then take a well deserved trip.

Someone should take a trip down to NZ to pay a visit. Show this clown all 10 pages of banter, as well as his "bros" nasty pm's that cost him 14 days off the monkey. Whoever visits should be lent a decent video camera to record the journey. We can make it part of the RM movie.

I'm in complete agreement with that.

Disappearing from the public is not the way to maintain what little reputation you have left. Such a shame after producing a (jnr) world champion bike.

Whoops, I think that your intentions are in the honorable, but the guy is a crackhead and needs to front.

Having a website and posting prices can be construed as nothing other than being in a position to offer the product one is offering.

Accepting deposits and then disappearing is nothing less than fraud.

Then what happens when you break something in four months time?

Pretty specialised parts... Nothing is going to be available from your LBS to quickly solve your problem...

Still worth every minute?

I would say it is all pretty standard. rohloff etc. even if the frame had problems you sould just get it repaired at a carbon specialist.

wouldnt calling someone an insolent prick in public be being an insolent prick yourself?

aaron moved house a month or so ago, maybe 6weeks. hes moved to a smaller garage that isnt ideal. He's slowly getting his **** sorted to build the bikes.

I think its fookin ****e that you chaps aint got your bikes and i'm going to call him again tomorrow to offer my help - i fly up there and with the two of us get these bikes built and out there. its really average you've had to wait so long. Waiting isnt something anyone wants to do when the thing you're waiting for is soo good.

anyway, i'm going to keep hurrying him up, but he's aaron and it might not be any help at all.

Why don't u just Cancel your orders!!!
Because they have either;

> spent money

or

> believe riding a Lahar will be an orgasmic experience.

For all you high pivot gear box punters, check pimps gallery on vorb.co.nz.

that is a working prototype with (from what I hear) backing that wont leave you holding your cock and wishiing you hadn't believed the hype.

Very cool, but that 5.5" wide frame makes my knees and ankles hurt just looking at it.
I've tried to design around the in frame Rohloff, but that thickness in the pedal stroke area is just brutal on the legs.
shin guards are going to start wrapping around to the back of your calf with armor plating too :D

Its a prototype.....

Expect to see a monocoque front triangle.

As it is it weighs 45 pounds.

Shimanos new hub bangs off gears like an F1 racer. I heard a story about a drag race between two very fit guys, on a flat asphalt road. One on this beastie and the other on a brand new 36 pound bullit.

This thing pulled away.
