I measured my 888R and it comes up 180mm from the min lower crown line on the stanction to the top of the seal.

I thought these forks were supposed to be 200mm. Do I need to replace the cartridges or just longer springs?

the springs in the older 888 seemed to take a sag (as well as being fairly soft..so they sag under their own weight) after a bit of use. If you have not already, add some pre-load.

Doubt it. I've got a 170 version and there's no way it measures 180, even when extended.

Sanjuro, did you extend the fork when you measured?

As said, those things sag under their own wieght......especially with old springs.

dude i had one of those forks and it was rad....had it for two years and beat the tar out of it.....light weight, low front end.....loved it....keep it the way it is
