2001 Z1 Wedge travel

Can the travel in these fork be changed? I have a 2001 that definatly only has 4" of travel, I bought it used........it fork came off a 2001 Big Hit comp....I checked around and even found and old bike test featureing the Big hit comp and sure enough these forks had 5" of travel.

any ideas?

pull out the damper, and see if the negative spring is 1" long - if so, it's in 5" travel mode. If there's 2 negative springs per leg, or a neg. spring and a 1" spacer, or some other arrangement such as that, the fork has been modified to 4" of travel.

Longer neg. springs = less travel.

All you'd really need to do, is get a set of 5" main springs, and take out whatever needs to be taken out (spacer/extra spring) so that there's only 1" of neg. spring.


If the fork is set at 5" but you can't get more than 4" out of it for the life of you, take out some oil - about 5mm worth at a time out of each leg, until you can get full travel.
