Share a big moment or purchase.

My two are the purchase of my LHT and my commitment to commuting.

What's yours?

I bought nothing road related in 2007 other than some tires and tubes. I did ride the **** out of the road bike though.

Any particular ride that stands out?

Did a 70 mile group ride up in the mountains early in the year. It was all in good humor but every section was a dick swinging contest to see who could go the fastest. The last 5 mile climb of the day it ended up just being myself and possibly the fastest MTB pro in the state. When the road turned flat I put my head down and pulled away from him. It hurt so bad that when I came to a stop I fell over and every muscle in my leg cramped up.

i crashed pretty hard in a crit, that was fun
hope you shaved your legs!

Since baby #1, all of my riding has been on the road. My best ride: the 1 AM spin on the trainer that I do a couple times a week in the basement. Not only do I honestly enjoy it, but it's really maintaining my fitness!

Didn't you also annihilate the Burke Mountain climb?

Went to WI and raced Superweek, and after racing for 6 days straight(average was 28 for 100k each day) I pulled off a 22nd. I was pretty happy with that.

I started the year not really riding road. In fact, I was doing more running and swimming than riding. Come Summer, I started doing a lot of road and rediscovered my love for the asphalt. I recently retired my old road bike and treated myself to a new ride.

He did it on his Mt bike , not his road bike, and some of us don't need to be reminded :busted:

climbing, I went from hating the big climbs to seeking them out.
I won't say I hated them , but Since you showed that evil web site with the climbs I have been drawn to them more then ever.

Spent a bunch of weeks commuting 17 miles each way along beautiful coastline to a temporary job. Also, after four years of waiting, I got a 100mm stem to replace my 110mm. It was quite satisfying. I have no idea why I waited so long.

On the negative side I will remember 2007 as the year I pretty much stopped caring about pro road cycling. Sad but true. I'll still follow it but I am tired of investing emotional energy in a team or a rider who turns out to be rotten.

On the plus side, I have many great memories from road rides this year, both casual and serious. The first one that came to mind as a highlight and thus probably my favorite was the 48 mile super hilly ride I ended up needing to do really fast because my girl was waiting at the finish and I was pretty much already in the dog house. Dropped a bunch of people, didn't get passed once, and at times I couldn't believe how fast I was going. I finished in a little under three hours which given the amount of climbing was blazing (for me anyway).

Let's see, I had some high points, new bikes, new responsibilities, but lows are not getting to ride enough, one of our guys getting booted from the Tour.
Highs were definitely getting the new bikes, the Colnago rules, just wish I had more time to ride it.
Still following pro cycling, just like OG it's hard to get super into it. I guess I have to hold out hope for new crop of young guys out there, it can only get better, right?

Getting some tires out under some folks was pretty cool too...
