It's just like building a 3x wheel except that instead of crossing over two spokes and going under the third you will only cross over one spoke and then go under the second spoke before connecting to the rim. I usually build 32/36 spoke wheels 3x and 28 spoke wheels 2x. Either way, you have to figure your lacing pattern into your spoke length calculations.
