I wouldn't spend too much time looking at budget full suspension bikes when you can get some truly awesome hardtails at a similar price range. I've seem those Oryx bikes and they just don't scream "Ride me, beat me, bruise me."
Take a look at some hardtails. Norco, Kona, Brodie, etc, all make great value-packed hardtails that will come with nicer components than a budget FS bike.
BTW, what type of riding do you intend to do? XC, Trail, Freeride, DH, Urban?

I ride XC/Trail. Looking for a pretty stout 4 inch 4-Bar dualy with a coil rear shock. Why?
Well, I'm not little, no, and coil is better for my weight then air, One of the better deals around I've seen is the $399 Jamis Dakar's on Jensonusa, looks like a pretty good deal.
I'd love to stick a Romic T2 on one of the new Specialized Enduro frames but I can't afford it.
