Anyone using joining links on their shimano chains ?
instead of the shimano joining pin

anyone want to share any success or horror stories of using
joining links like the SRAM powerlink or Connex connecting link
or any others available and how they found them to perform ?

I have used the connex links with cn 7701 (xtr) chains before. In general i found them fine, used them for 3 years with one failure, but i won't use it on my DH bike anymore.

I had one fail on me at thredbo on the DH bike, after the fast straight/box jump before coming into the forest, chain got wrapped in the wheel and almost caused me to loose it big time. Im just as happy to pop the pin out, clean the chain, put a new pin in.

I like the Sram power links, imo they seem stronger, i like the way they press together, but i have not used one with a shimano chain.

Yeah I use SRAM gold powerlinks with shimano 9spd chains, no problem.

Ditto. I've been running my Powerlink on Shimano chains for about 2 years, works like a charm.
