Anyone have it? I had it really bad as a kid, then kinda grew out of it. It seems to have come back sorta. Only once in a while, like if I go riding in cold weather (like I did today). Had an asthma attack 5 miles in and had to bail. :(

I haven't taken any drugs or used an inhaler for asthma in 30 years, so I don't even know what the treatment is like any more, much less for cycling.

Anyone have to deal with this shit? Help a brotha out.

My friend Aaron quit smoking last year. We got him back on his old bike and he got into shape. In the fall he developed asthma like condition. He went to the Doc and they told him he has Mesothelioma. He has since had a surgery since and he is doing OK. Not diagnosing you or anything....
I have reached out to him. He thinks you should go see the doctor.

Supposedly I had it as a kid, but I can never remember any real effects, never had/have anything like you describe on rides. I do get some congestion/fluid if I race real hard, the next day. I tried a steroid and it doesn't seem to do anything, but I don't seem to have any real troubles that I can pin down, never have trouble breathing while racing/on a ride.

My dad got the Phoenix valley fever bad years back and has never really recovered, bad asthma.

Had it as a kid. Sometimes I feel it again when I take breaks while riding in cold weather. My solution is to keep moving and don't take breaks.

Haven't had problems with it in years, but I am on a hefty cocktail of imunosuppressants and anti-inflammatories for psoriasis that could have improved the asthma.

Thanks ya'll. I'm going to get with a specialist after the first, no one can see me before then anyway. Probably going to try some over the counter shit in the meantime.

I started developing Asthma symptoms in my early 30's. I get more of a wheeze and can't get my lungs to open up vs sudden attacks that give me shortness of breath's. Mine seems to be allergy based. It is bad in the Spring and Fall. I can keep it under control in the Summer with eliminating certain foods from my diet, but I have to take a steroid most of the year to keep me from wheezing. Good times for sure.

I have astma and COPD and i rarely need my meds these days.
Staying in shape and laying off the hookers and blow works best for me but i realise thats pretty shitty advice.
Might want to look into those drugs...

Try to figure out if there is anything causing it. I actually developed asthma symptoms from being around animals I was allergic to for years. Once I moved out of that situation it cleared up.

Lots of stuff can mess with your lungs. Mold in your house, dust in your HVAC system, rat shit in your attic, poor air quality if you live in the city, etc....
