Yeah it is. It torques the disc brake tabs on the frame. Also it could harm the caliper. I used to hop around on an avid mechanical disc brake and it started to make this auwful squealing noise and seemed as if the pads would shift in either direction when the wheel changed rotating directions.
I was once told by a local trials guru that turning your bars in the opposite direction of the spin helps. Also, commit. Do the same as you do for the 90 turn just commit and do everything with more power. Try looking back at your rear wheel and then follow with the rest of your body. -J (an ex-trialser)
