26-11=2.4 on 24s. Its pretty quick. However I have a geisha freecoaster so I really only have to worry about backpedaling when I put my regular wheel on.
For 26s I was running 30-12=2.5

34-16 on the 26".

on a 20" bmx, i grew up on a 44/16. that's what everyone rode for years until the small cog trend. 33/12 is exactly the same gear:
44/16=2.75 X wheel size of 20" = 55
33/12=2.75 X wheel size of 20" = 55

that's why i run 34/16 on a 26":
34/16=2.125 X wheel size of 26" = 55.25
28/13=2.15 X wheel size of 26" = 56

If you're getting close to 55, then that's a good all-around gear for a single speed bike. Flat ground and street riding maybe you want to go faster. Trail riding with lots of steep climbs, maybe something spinnier.

38/14 = 2.714 on the 26

I want to switch to a micro-drive setup but not sure which components to get.
What is everyone's setup? Chainring, rear cog, and chain?

36:16, that's a 2.25:1 ratio on 26"ers.
Perfect for a fast BMX track/dirt yumps.

Works out to ~2.93:1 in 20" terms (which I think in).
The standard 44:16 works out to 2.75.

out of the 20 people posting in here...i doubt they can all do rollbacks, and i doubt their gearing makes that much of a huge difference.

i have 26/10-on my bmx...and im just learning 180s now...im just having trouble peddling one momment, then pedaling backwards the next...i lose my balance:(

Roll backs. . . like rolling out of fakie, right?

I've noticed a recent trend in bmx videos of people actually hopping out of fakie. It looks a little sketch, but I guess it could be fun. Personally, on my 20", I favored no specific gearing for the trick. I used to run36-16 (spinny for a bmx bike) and now I'm on 36-13. You don't really need that much pressure to spin out of fakie, as most of the stopping/turning motion comes from the turn.

Sama1ter -- it always helped for me to find something fixed to look at and then spin the pedals faster than I should. That way when I'm rolling out, I'm rolling back at the speed the bike needs to move and I don't have to worry about dealing with any strange feedback from the pedals.

I can do them. Try doing roll backs out of 1/4's or in mini pipes and then link them when youre landing 180s clean. Im now over rotating my 180s to around 270 or so and then flying out the front wheel for the 3. Im still dying to get flat clean 3s, but it aint easy:nopity:

Im going to drop my 25t to a 23t to see how a little more crank pressure will effect things.
