Nice artsy-fartsy foto Joel.

Where'd you pluck that juicy bit on the MP Tremendous? Or was it straight from the horse's mouth to your ears/email?

I sure wouldn't want to ride that gigantor on the regular, I have a hard enough time pedalling my HT XC bike to work. Can't imagine huffin' down Broadway in traffic on that. ;)

Wish we had footage of Doc riding it because I've seen him at Plattekill rocket that thing like a real moto superstar. Alas, it belongs to someone else now, hopefully still getting some runs in.

Yeah I wonder who has that bike. Action photos would be neat as hell!

When I get my car, which I've just ordered, I am going to put BMW stickers all over that thing.

... or maybe just one eye-catching pink BMW sticker.

I got that info off PB. Don't know it's original source, probably from the mag that one of my pictures is from.
I would think that bike is faster if not faster than current DH bikes. We know the linkage is great and the posibility of weight distribution is much better than that of current bikes. You could rail and roll everything. I would love to see it in action. Wish I lived in/near NY :(
I remember the MP was sold on Ebay. It weighed something like 70lbs.
Oh how I lust for just one run.
Doc would probably make a more refined version if someone asked him (and had the money).

That writeup on the Masterplan has been kicking around forever. I've got it copied to a folder on my computer somewhere.

A Masterplan was actually auctioned off on eBay not all that long ago, went for some appalling around of money. I think that writeup was included with it as well. I'm poking around but I can't seem to locate the pictures or the rest of the writeup... Argh!

i met a guy who claimed to own the mp in whistler this summer (he's from seattle). unfortunately he didnt have the bike out that day. we did have a nice chat about the joys of bmw ownership, however. brooklynites are a cool lot.

That Racelink is nice! it was on the BMW site some onths ago I recall.

What's up with those Avy fork stickers? new designs?

Reeeeeall sweet looking bike, but why is it all the bikes that look the best i never like the componentry ? Sods law. I build up a bike with every peice of kit i love, and it never turns out half as nice as bikes i see where i despise certain bits of kit. Bah humbug! Bah!!

My above comment is exclusing forks and frame, naturally :P Other stuff i'de have to look at closer, but a few things scream out to me in that picture.
Pfft. It's all about the looks. You need some monsters and blacked out components.

tough crowd.

while a pain-stakingly detailed bike may be pleasing to the eye, it's not about looks, it's about what goes on while your flying over the earth at mach speed, performance.

It was a very light hearted coment. I love BMWs not because of their looks but fuctionality, design and suprising versatility.

keep in mind that the bmw frame does not just come apart. there is a sleeve that is pressed in the center that joins the front and rear frames. there is also a composite spacer in there too. so make sure you pick something you are gonna like. Xy9ine got his tmx apart with a hammer and a pipe. Doc explained to me that they made an adaptor to fit in the end of the sleeve so no to distort the machined bearing surfaces or tolerances.

I dont know, all i am saying is that the frame just does not come apart like other frames so you can powdercoat at will.

Don't think I didn't see your little mishap Joel.

It's between dark gold flake and black flake. About the powder coating/sleeve thing. i'll get it painted at BMW. That'll solve that problem.

edit: funny avatar joel...i've been waiting for that correlation to surface. are you going to final descent this year?

Yes I own an FQ and I use it for everything. Great stability, handling and lots of travel (relatively) to soak up all those hits. It a great bike that you can bring to the DH runs, the dirtjumps and the street. The place it's probably best is in the air. Jumping this thing is great.

yeah, me too but i think that ralph lauren must be an American thing and we seem to be greatly out numbered on this thread.

And yes I am racing this coming weekend (18th) in the series final for the ADHCS and then again on October 2 in Angel Fire at the Final Descent. That's all the races for me this year. Planning on flying out to see the red bull rampage on the 31st. that will be fun!
