i was supposed to learn doubles at mtn creek last saturday w/my buddy LL COOL TREE but it was buckets of rain so i worked instead and went to the creekster on sunday. unfortunately cool tree wasn't there sunday but i landed the opportunity to ride with symmy for the first time ever (short for symmetrical). he is also crazymadfast, as well as remarkably mindful, patient and still fun when riding with someone of less skill and cojones than the over-abundance of both he possesses. his guidance was generous and hilarious. within the first run i was riding terrain i'd only dreamed of and more. he handled my verbal abuse for having tricked me into a couple bridges extremely well. i wouldn't have believed what i did if wasn't there to witness it first hand.

anyway, i sent symmy on his way after four runs. he looked happy to take more with me but i insisted he go be the fast guy for a while. so i'm feeling a little more confident and repeating the big moves symm had me doing to make sure i didn't forget how it felt and what he was saying to keep me rolling through it, picking up a little speed with each run.

having a blast at the jumps after the alpine turns at the bottom. not doing great on the second jump (the first one "in" the trees) but still managing to enjoy the berm right after it that leads you to leif's jump (as i call the big one below the lift). i choke on leif's jump, but i'm working up to it...a centimeter at a time on those big face jumps. so i bumble through that, crank a few and pump the descent into the nice little pocket berm and pedal, one, two, towards the roll-able double that leads toward the waterpark. i'm thinking: crank it girlfriend because the faster you go now the less you have to pedal uphill to set yourself up for the big easy (what i call the berm and two big, but fairly easy jumps beyond all that other terrain i just rode through). so it's a third crank for good measure and to hell with whatever happens over the double at this speed. and wouldn't you know it... POOF!! just like that, nothing but the wind. it feels amazing. i don't want to come down. i look down and see the whiteness of the pipe that makes up the base for the second half of the double and i'm sailing over it. touched down without incident and i was off up the hill to get to big easy. there was no time for celebration because i had to get to the lift ASAP so i could hit it again. hahaaaaa! i jumped that puppy five more times, each time better than the last. HA! in your FACE FEAR!! IN YOUR FACE!!

you may go on about your business now, thank you.

(edit: i was going to edit in symmy's review of my bike after i let him take it for a run, but you'd have to hear it with his thick bronx accent to enjoy the full effect so i decided against it.)

WOW! great re-cap tmx!!!! i feel like i was right becide you as if we hit the jump at the same time. except that I turn back from looking at you ace that double to see that I my own landing is WAAYYY nose heavy so I let go of the bars and put my hands/arms up to take the brunt of the impact. that all i remember.

joel, thanks. but ouch! no more crashing or else i won't take you on any more cyberruns with me.

mike, will keep you posted if i hear of any RL's for sale but if most of the brooklyn owners on the planet were replying in this thread there would be more than a thousand of us instead of nine absurdly passionate slackers. okay...maybe four absurdly passionate-types and a couple level-headed contributors, but we are far from "most". good luck on your search.

I'm selling because I have only ridden the bike 3 times in over a year. It is a amazing bike, however I have been ridding a lot of road latley. I may part it out, but the frame has to sell first.

It would depend on want someone would need? I think that the basic frame kit with crank, ti spindle and spring, and all the other bmw specific parts should sell for $2800.00ish The same parts that I'm talking about cost me about $4200.00

i did a frantic feasibility study, and my logical side overcame the emotional/irrational one. the accounting department vetoed the proposal. (and the freshly-restored tmx seemed saddened at the prospect of being displaced). oh well. good luck with finding a good home for that beautiful machine.

Joel, I changed my mind, I no longer wish to sell you that TMX. Could you send her back complete?
:D:D:love::love::thumb:

I vote TMX#77 as the pimp-my-ride-est Brooklyn on this thread so far.

Hey do you guys know anything about king hubs?
I'm looking for king hubs/arrow rims for my FQ
Now I've noticed that there are a million king hubs.
I've also noticed that there is a heavy duty ISO Disc Rear Hub?
Is that the one that has the stainless steel drive shell?
I'm looking at getting fun bolts too. Is there any mod to the hub, or do the fun bolt just fit?

Also, does anyone know any wheelbuilders/shops that build/carry king hubs and arrow rims and build them too?

Also, I'm still undecided on what to do about a fork? Should I put a shiver SC on it, or one of the 05 Marz Z.1 150's?

Profile hubs knucks, profile. Just got mine. They're so damn sweet.

I think a shiver would be nice but a Marz would as well.
I am getting rid of my Dorado although I was I didn't have too... :mumble: :nopity:

Just on another not, Go Ride is the best place to buy stuff. Ordered a bunch of Arrow stuff but they didn't have it in stock, next thing I know they'd rush ordered the stuff directly from Arrow so I could get it ASAP. Their customerservice is great.

Here's a shot of my TMX resting on the top of Les Gets 2, caked in mud.
The conditions last week were rather muddy, with the weather changing between bright sun and pissing rain. The combination of muchos mud and the jet washes at the lift station, caused one of my 2ndary bb bearings to die catastrophically, leaving me with a very stiff drivetrain for the last day!
Unfortunately no shots of me riding the courses, the other ridiers in our party were XC bods and I was always way ahead of them coming down.
