will do jon, but i think he's sticking to the bbq theme since we're going with your suggestion for the company name, lolwtfbbq.

the dh will be called the marinade
4x - the smoker
dj - the sauce
bmx - propane
xc - the sweat
road - seared

every new frame will come with a bottle of bbq sauce.

edit: derple anondized LOL

Will the smoker be a hardtail? if so, one smoker for the non-smoker please
Haha. Yes HT.

Kids bike: Spitfire
Granny bike: Angus
Tandem: Shishkabob (or however that's spelled...)

Jon, What exactly is a mud butt in relation to BBQ? Sometimes I'm not so sure where you're going with your jokes. ;)

At the risk of appearing as uncosmopolitan as I actually am- Jon's mudbutt joke refers to the copious splatters of smelly, noxious, beef stew-looking diarhea that consuming all that zesty barb-q would produce. Tasty.

As one of the many lurkers checking in on this thread and current discussion, may I say "mmm... thanks for the visual."

:clapping:

Terry, some news: we went out to Denver last week and secured a nice landing pad of an apartment for our first 4 months there!

Sorry for the de-railment. Please continue!

I had a feeling that's what he meant. Pretty gross, but I like it. So yes, we'll have a chopper cruiser thingy call Mud Butt.

Ironic to mention the bike trade show in response to impressions some folks have about Doc being the driving force behind whatever attracted riders like xy9ine to the company. Bklyn wasn't at Interbike for the past two years yet Boudreaux was.

Also kind of ironic to refer to those particular bikes because Doc's designs and manufacturing have seen a decade of mostly self-funded advancements since he made those two dinosaurs. His Supertrucker was the dawn of time for big travel bikes, no less using an internal hub. And while the TMX was a deeply personal bike for him, he recognized it was obsolete long before it went out of production over six years ago to make room for the race link.

I wouldn't necessarily agree Doc "likes" to talk about the technology behind his designs though he is ready, willing and able to offer detailed answers when questions are asked. Which happens often since his designs seem to buck the system and are often considered advanced of industry and market trends with the 6 yr old RL still riding the crest of the wave. He ends up with a lot more explaining to do for people who have a hard time grasping something as far out as the freak show that the Supertrucker was 10 years ago, or the hubbub over the TMX a year later or even the one-off DH frame he's currently riding.

If people are drawn to the company because of bikes like the big/mini/race links, the Hitman, Street Sweeper or the Masterplan it makes sense they might consider the person responsible for them to be of special interest to their own special interests. Surely there are also longtime fans with the complete opposite impression; where the contribution of the remaining partner was their draw to the company.

Variety makes the horse race, as they say and there's room for everyone's wildly varying impressions of the old company and the two people responsible for it at the time. Three if we include silent partner Yauch for throwing in the start-up cabbage, who incidentally parted ways with the company along with Doc. Five people if we include the generous contributions from Ged and Peter.

I've heard the old company is still selling the racelink but I'm not sure if inserting a pivot between a front triangle and swingarm that were made in 2005 can be considered "in production".
Hey, chill out. I appreciate your passion and whatnot, but you don't need to get so defensive. I merely posted my impressions of the company based on conversations that I had with both guys when I visited their booth.

Was wondering about you yesterday. Along with several others who were part of the porn crew back when it was cooking. How've you been?
I been alright. I haven't ridden since before I last posted here but I couple of days ago I saw my ride in the shed (unrideable, hence no riding) and fixed it up a bit so it was just about possible to ride. Loved it. Thought about here and my love for steel and BMW... and here I am. Still no closer to a Racelink though.
Need to send my CK hub off for warranty. Aff.

How you/the bikes/the thread been?

I don't think I've posted in our 'little' thread for the better part of a year, coming back in just the day before your return. Good timing on your part. ha! Anyway, I'm good. How long were you away from the thread? Did you know Doc left the company at the end of last year? (there's a press release floating around here somewhere.) He's under a new roof now and pulling things together nicely.

Good luck getting your bike rollling. Riding is fun regardless what bike you're on so I hope you get some in soon enough.

I suspect that Chile Challenge in N.M. will be Memorial Day weekend from now on. I've love to bolt outta New Mex after that and head to Porcupine Rim !! sounds like a good plan to me, I'm in. And if you're as far as Moab, you might as well go to SLC cause you've got to see Go_ride while you're in Utah ;)

Hi Brian. Thanks, I really appreciate the warm welcome.

I'm with JPop on the New Mexico race. He talked me into it this year and it was a BLAST!!! And the whole mtn is open for non-race riding if racing isn't your thing. Very chill scene, the scenery is gorgeous. Maybe you and yer ol' lady would like to join us for that too.

Either way, we have to pass through Moab to get there so I'm certain we can figure something out for maximum gathering/riding fun.

As always, wishing you safety and a swift return.

(LOL Joel: G-R.)

There, fixed that for ya'. ;)

btw, Seismic, I've been meaning to tell you for quite some time how happy I am for you that you finally got one of Doc's bikes. And the one you have is pretty cool because it was made specifically for Tony Calves, who's repeaded pleas for Doc to make another hucker was the reason the HM was made at all. Bummer it didn't suit TC's needs, but it's cool that it seems to be in equally good hands now. Hope you're enjoying it.
Thanks for the comment. I cant thank Anthony enough for delivering a piece of art to me. First of all, the bike was in PERFECT condition when I got it, and Anthony was a pleasure to deal with. And that is quite important when on a different continent. It is by far the best bike I have ever had and it is super nice to ride.....being cared for like a spoiled child:cupidarrow:

Going to Japan on Saturday and hopefully I will bring back a digi camera....then I will see if I can get some action pics. My present camera was killed in action....hence the lack of pics.

Terry, it would be cool if we can get something going then. I'll keep you posted as our plans come together. Thanks again to you and Doc for your support!

Has anyone tried to get their RLs rebuilt through brooklyn since the split? DHS and I have talked a little about this and wondering if anyone has any recent experience. My RL is pretty beat and there is a lot of play in the drivetrain. i am sure the pivots are all right, but probably could use some maintenance done on them.

quick question for no skid marks, is that a i-beam post in the rl size? 'cause in the pic it looks bigger than 27,2. Couldn't find the right size on their website.

Sorry I can't remember,if you go onto the UK family site and search seatpost or I-Beam,I think I've mentioned it on there. I didn't have to modify it at all,it fits perfect. Oh and yeah it's an SDG I-Beam.

yo holmes, my i-beam (see sig) is a 27.2 and i bought a shim from cane creek to fit the 29.8 (i think) RL seat tube. I never liked shims before cause they are always crome plated plastic junk. but Cane Creek makes some really nice, CNC'd anodized shims that fit great. check it out.

skid, I looked through the uk forums and there you said you are fairly certain that your running a 30,0mm i-beam. I'll see if that'll fit mine and otherwise i'll get that cc shim (thanks for the tip joel!)
