Be ready to shovel a lot, make sure you are near some sort of water source and ideally, try to make them on a slight downhill.
Try not to use too much filler in your jumps, like stumps and what not.

Thanks guys, that crackedfork site is great. Any more tips? the sites make it sound easy, but i know id screw it up.
