Carbon brake pads

Anyone have much experience with various brake pads and carbon rims? I use normal pads on my carbon rims during last cross season and they didn't work very well. The big issue I have is that I run both alu and carbon wheels during the season. I'm looking at the SwissStop Yellow RX King pad and SwissStop RX GHP pads. The kings are considerably more; will I see a significant improvement with the GHP?

They work well, but I'm not a proponent of the same pads on two rim surfaces. Carbon is way too effected if you happen to have a bit of alu in your pad from the alloy rim.

I'm all for just changing them.

Yeah, I've read that. I dunno, seems like a big PITA to change my pads every time I change my wheels.

I think they're worth the extra cash.

Do you seriously burn through a set of pads during a race? holy ****.

During a muddy race I can burn a set of pads. That's why I've shied away from buying really expensive pads.

sounds good. what cat is he? our 1s needed some help today at the State Championships. That Hotel San Jose team is un-****ing-real. I thought TX Tough or Super Squadra were the teams to beat here in Texas, but THSJ put those guys to shame the way they controlled the last few laps.

And he's still winning. If he didn't use brakes, he'd be a part of the space program.

Waiting on JD to call me, Dustin. He's currently racing for Velocity/Black and White.
hm....the simple quote button seems to be giving me issues. See prior post.

He's a 1. He's strong. He missed the Bahati squad by one this year. Turns out, that was a good thing.

Oh yeah, one of Metro VWs big boys is (was?) on Bahati this year. Was still wearing the kit this weekend. Peter Carey....think he goes to UT.

Well when you find out if he's interested, let me know. I'll see if I can get an idea of what the perks are.

Agreed 100%, Yellow Kings are all I use on carbon rims. And it's not that hard to swap out pads, quit being a little girl and get to it. Mixing alloy/carbon rims on the same pads just seems like you're asking for trouble...

An update, I bit the bullet and bought the expensive pads. We'll see how much of a difference they make this season!
