The article was all downhill from there.

I think someone was taking too much of something when he made the mold for the middle one.
Yeah he had to have been cracked out, but the price is prolly like an extra 2000$ just for it's curves. carbon curves

Not to sound like a total horn dog but... THANK YOU! That pic is smoking, not to mention that the rest of the thread has some great Angelina snaps.

Here here, I second that. And you can call me a horn dog.
The only thing is you can actually buy one of these carbon porno thingie we're posting here. You can't even come close to affording one of those in that other thread. But eye-candy

Speaking of carbon stuff, anyone know how to repair a carbon fork guard that has damage at a corner? I think some of the carbon fiber is broken. Do I just slather on some epoxy, and cover w/ a sheet of plastic or is there something more esoteric I need to do?
If need, I'll shoot a pic for more clarity.

what do u mean by a carbon fork gaurd??? I'm sure you could just get some fiber glass cloth and epoxy it on to the surface after sanding to ruffen it up a but. Go to a good store that sells radio control airplane stuff.

It's for a DH bike's dual crown fork. I have a Mr Dirt FAT fork that has carbon guards for the stanchions. I laid the bike down and the guard took it all. As a result it sorta desintegrated at a bend where it goes from a small dia to a larger dia.
Good idea about laying another layer of glass cloth. Epoxy resin paint if I remember right...?

Well i was thinking get some epoxy from a hobby shop, it's the best for it. I say get a 15 -30min one. Just make sure you mix the 2 parts really well. You might want to, if it's really thick you can add some rubbing alcohol and it'll make it thinner and more speadable.
Could you post a pic of exaclty what you;re trying to repair, I;m still kinda confused....my brain is fried today...

I love the dimples on the new Zipp wheels to reduce the drag. I wonder if certain textured surfaces on bikes will soon become illegal for competition.

I remember watching a segment on a show here in Canada called "Daily Planet" (maybe it's in the US as well) about slalom ski racer aerodynamics,

certain suits are banned from competition. One of which has a dimpled surface, resembling that of the Zipp

wheels, the dimples actually create tiny turbulences in the airflow resulting in less drag of the air leaving the body.

Here is a link to the program video clip if you're interested; it's the second one from the top.

Edit: I just watched the clip again and the dimpled surface suits are not illegal for race, these dimples actually make the airflow hug and contour

the body, leaving less of a wake of turbulent air, "similar to a golf ball". The illegal suits have a feature called "trip wires", which are the

ones that create these mini turbulences in the air flow resulting in less drag of the air leaving the body, of up to 20%.

AHA but I can imagine it would be quite hard to made a dimpled carbon frame, without comprimising stregnth or weight. How much of a difference would it make anyway, could you actaully measure it.?

The dimples are really more of a gimic than anything. A zipp engineer told me, they loose there aero advantage over 20mph, cause the wheel is spinning to fast for them to have an effect, plus problems with getting the dimpled 404s to work is what's holding up the 05 wheels. The dimple theory has been played with for years...the troxel helmet that was made of the 96 olympics was one example. What's really going to be interesting is if people start messing with vortex genterators on frame...ala indy and F1 cars....although I can see the uci stopping that.
