Yeah...you may really value that job when you are 126 years old.Bah! be smart, kid. Everest will be there in 100 years, will your job? Work your job now, you may not get the chance later in life.
exactly. And how enriching is climbing some cold ass mountain going to be, when you could enjoy 72 degrees inside a fluorescent lit cubicle all day? Perfect lighting, perfect heat, much less stressful.Yeah...you may really value that job when you are 126 years old.
this is one of the worst attempts at trolling i've ever seen.exactly. And how enriching is climbing some cold ass mountain going to be, when you could enjoy 72 degrees inside a fluorescent lit cubicle all day? Perfect lighting, perfect heat, much less stressful.
rep communism must occur before you can get in the bread-line again.Start placing things at work where nobody can find them.
France and Germany. Mostly going to be staying in Paris And probably heading over to Munich. Right now I'm making the play to have a several day stopover in Iceland.BTW - I've never been fired from a job, but I have left some mid stream to follow my heart. Once you get some distance from your office, mentally, you may come to realizations about that particular job. Sometimes you realize you hated it all along, sometimes you miss it more than you thought you would. You gain this perspective from distance and time.
And I can't imagine a perspective that would make a job look so insignificant in your life as from Everest.
BTW - where are you going in Europe?
this isn't 4chan....and you can't even form that into a kanye reference? come on dude...this is one of the worst attempts at trolling i've ever seen.
Just going to base camp. The trip is something like 19 days long, 14 of which are spent hiking to trail to base camp. Unfortunately I will be doing nothing more than peering up at the summit.so are you actually climbing it or just hanging out at base camp
Spoken like someone who can't figure out what they want to do in life.Careers are for those who don't appreciate life to the fullest. Sure it might be good pay, but when you tell your grandkids about your life, would you rather say that you were at base camp at mount everest, or sitting in a cubicle hating life.
Think about it.
which is closer than anyone here has been.Just going to base camp. The trip is something like 19 days long, 14 of which are spent hiking to trail to base camp. Unfortunately I will be doing nothing more than peering up at the summit.
win.1) Go to Europe and bang your girlfriend in some awesome romantic places
2) Go to MOTHERFVCKING MOUNT EVEREST
3) Come home feeling like a MAGIC KING
4) Go into the boss' office and insist on that promotion.
Not only do I know what I want to do in life, but I am living that life right now and enjoying it fully. It is an amazing feeling to be your own boss. I was in the Air Force for 9 years and knew everyday that I wanted to try and do what I wanted to do whilst I had the time and money to do it, and I did, and I am still doing it.Spoken like someone who can't figure out what they want to do in life.
Why is it people think you have to choose one or the other? If you do it right, there's plenty of time/money to do both.
That's the thing.....why not have both? You make it seem like it always has to be one or the other.Keep being a slave to the dollar sign, I'll keep being a slave to wanting more and experiencing life.
was gonna say, both are possible, but its a tough balance. That's the thing.....why not have both? You make it seem like it always has to be one or the other.
That's what I'm saying.was gonna say, both are possible, but its a tough balance.
That being said, no, not crazy about the cubicle life. Then again, its provides me the funding I need to do a lot of the fun things I want.
When JBP was 25 Mount Everest was a molehill.he's just mad because his knees aren't good enough to make it up Everest.
If I have ever been in that position in regards to a cubicle. I had a great gig in the AF with ridiculous pay and way too much time off. In most cases it has to be one or the other in regards to hating what you do yet you make good money to do what you want. I am saying, what is stopping you from doing what you truly want to do while also having the time off to enjoy your passions. I am thankfully in that position while also enjoying social security disability and retirement pay at 29 due to my head in jury in Iraq, so I am the exception, but for you, that doesn't have to be the case. That's the thing.....why not have both? You make it seem like it always has to be one or the other.
Is that the same "Man" that signs the paychecks of the people who buy your albums and merch, and go to your shows?Fvck The Man.
Our fans have jobs?Is that the same "Man" that signs the paychecks of the people who buy your albums and merch, and go to your shows?
Just checking
Wildly dependent on what you do. Right now I don't see it for my job but I think it may come from an itch to requalify or sth.Spoken like someone who can't figure out what they want to do in life.
Why is it people think you have to choose one or the other? If you do it right, there's plenty of time/money to do both.
Try to get some Italy or spain in there also. I mean, you are in europe anyway.France and Germany. Mostly going to be staying in Paris And probably heading over to Munich. Right now I'm making the play to have a several day stopover in Iceland.
Having never been out of the country before I'm certainly going to be doing it in style this year.
This right here. Fact is your boss is doing his job in trying to scare you into not going, when he said its ok for you to go. He is right though, your career is always in your hands. Go to everest, have the trip of a lifetime, come back and show gratitude for going on your return. By gratitude show your employeer that your worth letting go for a long vacation such as this and your worth keeping your spot for your return. If your boss is unwilling to give you a more definite answer, you should go and expect to have a job waiting when you get back. This is a rare opportunity and you should jump on it. It's pretty rare to regret doing something like this, way more common to regret NOT doing it. Just remember not to squawk if you get asked to cover for someone else in the future.
