I'm taking my 3/16" chain off of my ride to shed a little weight. I was wanting to run a 1/8" chain (sram pc-7x probably) and a 1/8 black jack ring. My question would be is a shimano dx cog the appropriate size for a 1/8 chain? Any help appreciated!

hey there-

you can run a PC-7X on a DX cog.
I was running a 3/32" 8-speed chain on a DX cog and it worked fine. the 1/8" chain would be a little wider than the cog, but would work great (quieter than a 3/32").

I use a KMC 410H (1/8") on a DX cog, it works beautifully.
