My girlfriends Dell Inspiron 6000 seems to have a bit of an issue...

It shut itself off today. Upon reset, after the Dell startup screen all that happens is a blinking cursor in the upper lefthand corner of the screen. I tried restarting and going into the boot menu, also the BIOS setup screen, nothing. BIOS sound hosed? Motherboard maybe? Is there hope for this poor little laptop?

Try reseating the memory modules and the processor.

If you have two memory modules try just one in slot 0 and swap them in the same slot if it still doesn't work.

PM me the service tag number and I can look stuff up on the Dell Site. I'm warranty parts direct certified.

Thanks for the advice Dartman, but I tried firing it up when I got home a minute ago and now it's functioning fine? Bizarre.

I hate laptops.

Grrr.

Sounds like it might be heat related. A laptops worst enemy. Make sure it has good ventilation under it.

It still couldn't hurt reseating the memory and processor.
