Massachusetts, USA August 28th, 2006 This past weekend, e.thirteen components sponsored riders dominated the Elite Downhill Category at the World Championships hosted at Rotorua, New Zealand. In all, e.thirteen components athletes earned 5 of the top ten spots in the Elite Mens downhill and 4 of the top 6 spots in Elite Womens category.
Earning his first ever Elite World Championship title and coming off of his NORBA Points Series win, Australian Sam Hill took home the gold medal riding for the Monster/Iron Horse/Mad Catz team. Sam crossed the line over 4 seconds faster than his next competitor. Fellow Australian and riding for MS - RACING, Chris Kovarik, earned a 5th place spot. Riding for the Cut/Cannondale, Mick Hannah, Australian, placed 6th right behind Kovarik. Frenchman and Commencal team rider, Cedric Gracia, earned 7th place. Mickael Pascal, another Frenchman and riding for Qbikes, finished 10th. Of the top ten riders, eight used chain retention system equipped bikes, and five of these eight riders used e.thirteen components LG1, SRS and G-rings. Duncan Riffle, riding for Honda/Iron Horse, earned the top spot for America by finishing 19th.
Sam Hills Monster/Iron Horse/Mad Catz teammate, Sabrina Jonnier of France, outpaced the womens field by over 3 seconds for the win. World Cup Point Series Champion, Tracy Moseley of Great Britain and sponsored by Kona/Les Gets, earned Silver behind Sabrina. Qbikes rider, Emmeline Ragot of France, earned 5th place in the womens elite category. Riding for NORCO and for Great Britain, Fionn Griffiths was right behind Emmeline with a 6th place finish.
