I wanted to post this here since this is where most suspension experts hang out.
I've rebuilt Fox stuff at the shop I worked at, but never saw this before. A buddy rides a 32 talas rc2 fit that he got a deal on, but he keeps it at 100 (low travel) most of the time cause it's on an XC hardtail. He upped the travel for some fun trails in Virginia but started to experience some loud clunking. When he gave it to me (several months ago) it was at the high 140mm (150?)travel. The issue is that when you compress the fork, it only goes through half the travel and bottoms out making a clunking noise. The fork has never been rebuilt. What am I looking for? Is it the fit damper leaking? Will it be one of those bladders that Fox stopped making? Air leaking from positive to negative chamber?
He's a good guy that's over seas in the military. I'd prefer not to take it apart, replace the wipers and add new oil and then tell him that it doesn't work, but you still owe me for the parts and labor. Ya know? Thanks, EC
