Friends of Capitol Forest,

This last weekend's turn out was great, 18 people total. Thanks to everyone's hard work we removed 10 truck loads of trash! We still have more work to do though.

We have set a monthly work party day for the first Saturday each month, year round. We will meet at 'The Y" intersection of Sherman Valley Road and Waddell Creek Road at 9:00 AM for DNR volunteer registration and then head out to work.

Saturday March 4th Game Plan:

There is still quite a bit of trash on Waddell Creek road, C -Line and lower C-7000 so these roads will be the areas of our focus. We have acquired "No Dumping Signs" from DNR and plan to post them as well. If between now and then you spot any problem areas drop us an email so we can incorporate the areas into the game plan. DNR is supplying garbage bags, gloves, some hand tools and the drop off location for the trash. If you have a pick-up truck and or trailer please bring it/them to help haul. Don't forget to bring a lunch and water. We will work on supplying food and water at upcoming work parties.

Friends of Capitol Forest is an Olympia based volunteer group that's main purpose is to support DNR's maintenance program for Capitol Forest's trails, roads, trailheads and camping areas. Our tasks will directly address the most needed form of support that DNR needs at the time. We may be picking up trash one weekend or refurbishing old signs or trail maintenance the next. We enjoy recreating and or living here and do not want see our forest degraded, so we are taking action to help maintain it. Please join us the first Saturday of each month for a volunteer day. Or if you want to strike out on your own contact us for a DNR volunteer registration form and/or tools and supplies you may need. The purpose of registering with DNR is to be covered under their liability insurance and to document volunteer hours which are awarded grant money for Capitol Forest project use. Let’s support our forest.
