Last mountain bike I owned was maybe 10-15yrs ago. Schwin Sierra.
I'm looking for a good beginners bike. Don't want to break the bank. Both on road and off road. Currently trying to decide between the Giant Boulder SE, Trek 4300, Trek 4500.

Any input.

I agree with post above. At the entry level there isn't any real ground breaking dvelopments that make any one stand out. You really do get what you pay for, and in the big picture, all the bikes in a given price point will be relativley equal.
I would suggest you go test ride them. One may fit better and be more comfortable, you may like the ride quality of one over the other......it may just come down to color. :-)
The important thing is get a bike and start riding!!!

I agree with maddog and psycho. These bikes are very similar, so go test ride and see what you like.

You could also consider how close the shops are that carry these bikes, along with their respective service agreements.
