Wisp Resort to Host the 2011 Gravity East Series #2 and the Capital Cup Dual Cross

We are proud to announce the 2011Gravity East Series #2 and Capital Cup at Wisp Resort on June 18-19, 2011.

The nation’s premiere Pro/Am gravity mountain bike racing series returns to McHenry, MD. The 2011 Gravity East will feature a GES downhill course that boasts approximately 700 vertical feet and approximately 4000 feet in length with jumps, berms, single track, steeps and a high speed finish. Athletes can compete in USA Cycling Sanctioned GES in one timed race run for each racer. Entry fee for downhill will be $75 for amateur and $80 for the pro classes. Entry fees will also include a 2 day lift pass at Wisp Resort.

***If you Raced at Snowshoe Race #1 Please bring your Race Plate that is your number all season

Want to Qualify for the Nationals 4x this is the event on the East Coast

Racers can also compete in the Capital Cup presented by Racers Edge Inc. in head-to-head dual cross event, which is a "Y" format. The 1300 foot long course starts off as gated dual slalom and then merges into a wide-open Mountain Cross/BMX style of course with jumps and berms as it drops over 150 vertical feet. The Racer’s Edge builders are nationally known for this style of course and the dual cross format is exciting for both racers and spectators. USA Cycling MTB Classes and separate modified BMX classes will be available. Riders may enter multiple classes (MTB and BMX) for one entry fee. There will be timed qualifying runs to create the brackets and all riders will qualify and battle through the single elimination brackets until the last two riders are in the finals. The top three finishers in each class will receive awards. Entry fee for Dual Cross is $30.

Aside from the racing action, there is a ton of other activities for the entire family at Wisp Resort which include: mountain bike riding on non-race trails, mountain coaster rides, canopy zip line tours, mountain buggy tours, white water rafting @ ASCI, a skate park, scenic chairlift rides, hiking, a swimming pool and a hot tub at the hotel, fine dining and more. ***If you Raced at Snowshoe Race #1 Please bring your Race Plate that is your number and Plate all season. We can replace Once or twice but there will be a small fee after that. Race Plates are not cheap in a 9 race series. Thank You

I was just about to ask about this. I discovered the plates do not stay on at highway speeds. :D

I've been told there's a deal at the hotel at the base for something like $69/night.

Can anyone confirm this?

Does anyone know the name/contact info of said hotel?
I can confirm it is 79.00 plus tax a night all rooms have two beds, and it is called The Wisp Hotel, you just need to mention you are coming for the Gravity East Race this weekend. It is also in the original post by "Gravity East" in this thread, it was 69.00 plus tax when the GES was there in 2009 but as with everything cost has gone up.

FYI the schedule in the Original post is accurate, Racers Edge and Wisp web schedule is in accurate, please read it here or in our email blast or visit www.gravityeastseries.com for the most up to date info and series rules etc.
Thank You

Our good friend Jeff has a great idea to help prevent the pileup at registration on Saturday morning.
We will be on site for you early birds to register Friday.
We are working out the details of exactly when (hours) and will post them as soon as we have them.
Thanks for the feedback and the great idea Jeff...anyone else have any great ideas they wish to share.
We are listening!
Remember...this series is about the riders, so let's hear it!:thumb:

Weather is supposed to be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!:)

Track is fun, fast, short, and dry today. No Gnar whatsoever. Beautiful resort and looking forward to a great weekend here.

Great weekend - fun courses for both the dual and DH ,despite some rain, with Trevyn Newpher taking the top spot in both the dual and DH in Pro Men.
Anee Galyean took the top spot in Pro Womern DH

Now there's a spiffy website.

Before I forget it, I wanted to say that registration for Whisp was faster and easier than any other race I have been to.

That Slalom course was awesome! Mike Hartlove always does a great job with this event. I wish more promoters would have Slalom races too. They are so much fun and the spectators really enjoy it. And, thankfully, they had a shuttle truck running for the race.
