Can I swap hayes calipers with other hayes levers? I have 22mm post mounts on my homegrown frame. I don't want to run 7" rotors so I can't really use the adapter (22mm to IS), which means I need to run old school 22mm hayes calipers. Can I buy a newer set of brakes, or even just levers, and run them with the older calipers? I wouldn't mind a nicer, newer setup, then just throwing the old caliper on back.

Go for it, ive seen a bunch of hybrids. I've even seen a hope caliper with hayes lever... Straight ghetto-rigged, but it had pretty good power....

yeah, you can run the hybrids.. but you have to think that different levers push out different amounts of fluid and diff calipers require diff amounts. and you can also fit any line to any lever or caliper, just need the right adapters
