I just dusted off my canon elura 100 camcorder and got a question for the film monkeys out there. Can some one please explain what the different types of lenses will do? i.e. teleconverter, wideangle, fish lens etc

teleconverter is a longer lens...think of it like a telescope in that you can zoom in.

a wide angle is exactly that, it gives a wide field of view.

a fisheye purposely distorts the image; it can be diagonal or circular (gives a keyhole-type appearance).

Those are better called converters since they are lens attachements. The lens can't be removed, like on SLR's or really high end video cameras.
