Hikers Blamed for Fire - 05/14/2004

Firefighters are still battling a wildfire burning in the Whitewater Canyons.

Flames have spread to nearly 1,200 acres. No buildings are threatened. But, one person has been injured. The fire is only 15% contained. However, full containment is expected by Saturday night.

Officials say an Ohio woman - hiking in the area, accidentally started the blaze when a cooking fire she lit spread into the grass. She has been cited, and may be held responsible for the costs of the fire.

Well I think this shows that hikers need to banned...

If mt. bikers were allowed on that trail we would widen the trail the few inches necessary to brush back that dry grass and avoid such a catastrophe.

Stupid hikers need to be banned!!!!!

I am very skeptical that hikers should be blamed for this... everyone knows it George W. Bush's fault!!!
