I mount full DH casing Maxxis tires to Deemax Ultimates, and get an extremely solid seal every time. Never see anything leaking out. Have been using 3oz of sealant, but suspect that I could get by with much less.
I use three full scoops (assuming thats 3 oz) on my dh bike and 2 on the trail. Ive had a small sidewall tear that would have sealed with more sealant when I tried to get away with one and a half on the dh bike. Better safe than sorry.
I use 1.5-2 scoops in 2.7" Minions and 1-1.5 scoops in trail tires. I bwt I could get them to seal up and work with 3/4 scoop but there wouldn't be enough to seal tears and punctures.
2 scoops in 2.5 Maxxis DH tires. I've gotten away with 1 scoop, which is enough to get the tire properly seated and sealed, but it was never enough to seal any punctures.
what kind of condition do rims needs to be to try and convert them to tubeless? wanted to maybe try but my rims are totally mangled...was hoping to go ghetto before a new rebuild.
Fairly straight is the best I can say over the internet. I've gotten good size dings that have still held air and some that have leaked out just as I was getting to the finish line. If you spend a little time on your sidewalls with a crescent wrench can you get them to at least "wavy" condition? If not, ghetto will probably work. The sealant bonds the cut tube to the tire and virtually makes it a tubular. It seems to be the most foolproof (but heavy) setup.
While I've gotten every rim I've tried to work tubeless, ones with a gently curving or flattish rim bed are usually much harder to get inflated than ones that have a stepped rim bed like UST, NoTubes, Spank, LB, ect.
Even if you get a mangled rim to seal you still may have a problem with burping. Even worse the tire could possibly de-bead while riding. Just keep it in mind
After reading how much everyone uses, wow stans must make a fortune off me. I empty bottles into mine. So much stans not even a tire slash could un tubeless me!
