So the preload spring on my pedal broke and needs to be replaced. The problem is there are no springs on the mallet rebuild kits and they won't warranty it because it's been used for 8 months.

Simple question really, how do I fix it? Rest of the pedal seems okay.

Any ideas?

CB has a two year warranty.

Fix it with a mallet.

buy a non-cb pedal. Never look back.

Check out the old shimano DX. The red version. They can be had for ~30 bucks on ebay. That will not break.

I have an extra one if you want it. I won't be on mountain pedals for awhile and I was going to take the spring and such off and use just the platform for my commuter.

That would be great but unfortunately I'm on the other side of the world!

My first choice would be Shimano, too after this. Especially since they wouldn't warranty it. But would seem like a waste to toss the pedal away when if it could be cheaply fixed.
