How to measure shock stroke?

I've installed a BETD long travel link on my Y2K FSR Rockhopper and I need a stiffer spring to use the 5" travel setting.
What I need to know is:When measuring the stroke of the shock is it measured from the body to the spring collar or from the body to the bottom out bumper?
The shock is a Fox Vanilla (OEM model,no rebound etc) measuring 6.5" eye to eye. There's no writing on the current spring BTW.

Cheers.

I would say it is the distance from the shock body to the collar. Otherwise, the spring would bottom out before the shock. Not a good thing:(

Most 6.5" eye to eye shocks are 1.5" stroke. As long as the spring will physically fit on the shock and has at least that, it should work for you.
