i want a new bike for the trail i ave a bullit and a hardtail, so i'm looking for something in the 4-5.5 travel range and under 29 pounds any ideas

What's wrong with a bullit for trail riding? I ride my dh bike for trail all the time, you shouldn't have a problem with a Bullit......
Well, it all depends on how the man's Bullit is set up. Could be heavy, DH setup and crappy for tamer trails.

All of those should be buildable under 30 (some easier than others, for sure). I actually like the '04 Liquids and Jekylls. A bit easier on the wallet than most of those listed too. I have a Giant VT but have yet to ride it.

VPP doesn't have great braking characteristics - having the Horst Link (active suspension) on a trail bike was important to me.

oh for sure, I agree with that totally. I've based my 04 season around looking cool, unfortunutly it guarentees I'll be slow too...
In fact, I'm going totally gangsta' this year. Chains, pants worn around 1/2 way down my quad. No helmet even, just a NY yankees hat that's way too big worn over my ears and crooked...HOVA style
