It hurts when I breath....

I haven't ridden in about two weeks, due to rain and holiday madness.

I went on a road ride today and a mountain bike ride two days ago. On both of these rides my lungs hurt a lot, and if I took deep breaths I would start coughing. During these last two weeks of relative inactivity ( I still went to the gym) could I have lost enough fitness so that I would start wheezing?

Before the break I rode about 20-30 miles a week.

It was cold when I rode today and the day before, could it have been the cold air?

Just a random question....

I would say it is the cold air. I know I have experienced that when I ride or run in the cold. Just think of how your lungs are reacting to air that is half(or less) the temp of your body.

My trainer said that you can loose 6 months of work in 2 weeks of slacking. Your mind is used to your old fitness level but you body is not.

I also agree this could be cold air or sickness issue. Dont push as hard, it will take some time to get back to where you were.
