I'm sure 97.31% of you alread discovered this trick, but I didn't figure it out until last night - when I work on my stem, or handlebars, et cetera, and I want my front wheel stationary, I use a bungee (see photo). Works great. I'm assuming if the wheel wasn't in place, the bungee could stil be used on the fork in a similar manner.

I just smack the front wheel around a little before I start working. It's usually to scared to give me any grief much less try to turn.
