It's not just rioters that have that philosophy.
Customers routinely string out payments to my contracting business (and those of my friends) due to their assumption that owning a business somehow means you have no financial liabilities of your own to answer to.

I've had doctors/lawyers/finance twats refuse to pay their bills when they deem our hourly rates too high after the work is done. (we don't bill by the hour, everything is priced by the job before work begins and is guaranteed to come in on budget). Apparently my son's aren't worthy of a quality education or health insurance.

A mechanic's lien usually sorts that out pretty quick though.

LONDON - Residents of a London housing estate laughed at a televised plea by police for parents to call their children and help rein in the youths who looted and burned swathes of the city.

Not only were some of the parents at the riots themselves, but many of those taking part were not the hooded, teenage delinquents on which many have pinned the blame for the worst street riots Britain has seen for decades.

A looter and his girlfriend were walking along the High Street when his girlfriend spied a beautiful ring in one of the shops. "That'd look nice on me" she says. With that the looter tossed a brick through the window and got the ring for his girl. A few minutes later they passed a clothes store. "ooh I like that dress" she cooed. Another brick, another broken window and the dress was hers. The next shop sold handbags. "That one will match my new dress" says she. Wearily our looter hoist another brick through the window and gets it for her. Still not completely satisfied she sees some shoes in another shop. "They'll complete the outfit" she says. Exasperated, the looter looks at her and says "what do you think I am, made of bricks?"

Ever since the riots all I ever wanted was to talk to my black mate from LA. He reckons those pussy English riots were nothin' compared to the Rodney bash.
